ACT SIX

EXT. HOSPITAL -- DAY

Sara is in a wheelchair, being rolled out of the hospital exit by Willow.  Sara is carrying the big panda bear that Willow won for her at the fair.  The bruises on Saras face have faded.

                          SARA
Okay, stop.  Were outside now.  Let me out
             of this thing.

Sara grabs the wheels and forces the wheelchair to a stop.

                          WILLOW
             Sara!

                          SARA
                  (getting out of the chair)
I mean it.  Dont know why they made me ride
             in that thing anyway.

                          WILLOW
Baby, youre still weak.  You shouldnt push
             yourself.

                          SARA
Im perfectly fine.  I just want to go home.
             Which ways the car?

                          WILLOW
             This way.

Willow points in the direction of the car.  She puts her hand on Saras back as if to guide her, but Sara walks boldly off and out of Willows touch.

INT. WILLOWS CAR -- DAY

Willow drives while Sara sits quietly in the passenger seat.  Willow looks with concern at Sara.

                          WILLOW
Were all still staying over at my house.
You know, till this whole Warren thing is
             settled.

                          SARA
             Okay.

Sara again becomes silent and stares off out the window.

                          WILLOW
Are you sure youre all right?

                          SARA
I wish you would stop asking me that.
             Im fine.  Really.

                          WILLOW
Im just worried about you.  You went
             through a traumatic event.

                          SARA
So did you, but you dont hear me asking
you every fifteen minutes if youre okay.

Willow turns away, hurt by Saras words.  Sara is instantly regretful.  She touches Willows arm.

                          SARA
             Im sorry.  I just...

                          WILLOW
Sara, you dont have to be tough girl all
the time.  Its okay to be upset, to be
afraid.  Besides, I can sense what youre
feeling, so its kind of silly to try and
             hide it.

                          SARA
             You can?

                          WILLOW
             Yes.

                          SARA
Is that because of what happened when I
             healed you?

                          WILLOW
I think our connection was already there
before that.  The whole soul transference
thing must have just intensified it.  Its
             kind of scary, huh?

                          SARA
             No, its not scary.
                  (off Willows now-now look)
             Okay, yes, its scary.
                  (continues in a shaken voice)
God, Willow, if anything had happened to
you, I dont know what I would have done.

                          WILLOW
                  (smiles gently)
Ditto.  Well just have to make sure that
             nothing happens, wont we?

INT. WILLOWS HOUSE - THE LIVING ROOM - DAY

Willow and Sara enter.  Andrew is watching TV.  Andrews bruises have mostly faded.  Ruby can be heard clanking around in the kitchen.

                          WILLOW
              Hey everybody!  Look whos back!

                          ANDREW
              Sara!
                   (hugs Sara)
I thought you werent getting out until
              tomorrow.

                          SARA
They released me early for good behavior.

                          WILLOW
More like bad behavior.  She was driving
them nuts, so they had to let her come home.

                          RUBY
                   (coming out of the kitchen)
Youre just in time for dinner.  I bet
youre sick to death of that hospital food.

                          SARA
              Definitely.

INT. WILLOWS HOUSE - THE DINING ROOM - DAY

Willow, Sara, Andrew, and Ruby have finished eating dinner.  Now they are sitting back, ready to work.

                          SARA
Okay.  Whats the plan?  We cant stay
              hiding in here forever.

                          WILLOW
Well, while you were in the hospital, weve
been comparing notes on what happened at the
warehouse.  You said that Warren was talking
with someone there, that he seemed to be
reporting back to this guy.  What do you
              remember about that?

                          SARA
I was kind of groggy when I saw it, but the
man was middle-aged, Asian.  From what I
heard, it seemed like Warren was working for
him.  Warrens job was to push you over the
              edge.

                          WILLOW
Warren said as much when we were fighting.
He was trying to force me to access black
magic, to make me go all evil Willow
              again.

                          ANDREW

But why would Warren do that?  Last time you
went all black and veiny, you killed him.
Seems like thatd be the last thing hed
              want.

                          WILLOW
He wasnt worried.  Hes got all those super
powers now, a gift from his new boss, no
              doubt.

                          RUBY
But what does this Asian guy want with you,
              Willow?

                          WILLOW
I dont know.  Tell me again what you saw
when you came to the warehouse.

                          RUBY
When we heard the fighting, we hurried over
as fast as we could.  When we got close, we
saw Warren run out of the warehouse, as
scared as a turkey in November.

                          ANDREW
Then this Asian guy appeared and grabbed
              Warren.  Warren said, Wai-Yi, please!
I guess thats his name.  And so then
Wai-Yi said, You have failed me.  Now
youll pay!  Then he started zapping
              Warren and --

                          RUBY
Wait, you left out a part.  He also said,
My Dark Star, my Chosen One, is gone.

At Rubys words, Willow gets a confused look on her face, and she stares off, as if thinking very hard about something.

                          ANDREW
Right.  I forgot.  Dark Star?  Chosen
One?  What was he talking about?

                          SARA
He must have been talking about you, Willow.

Willow does not respond to Saras comment.

                          SARA
              Willow?

                          WILLOW
                   (still in her own thoughts)
              Dark Star?

                          RUBY
              What is it, child?

                          WILLOW
I dont know.  That name, Dark Star, Ive
heard it somewhere, but I cant remember
              when or where.
                   (taps her forehead)
Its like the memory is right there, but I
              just cant...

                          ANDREW
              How about a jog-the-memory spell?

Ruby and Sara roll their eyes and look at Andrew like hes crazy.

                          SARA
Yeah.  Like theres one of those.

                          WILLOW
              No, no, Andrews right.

                          ANDREW
              I am?

                          WILLOW
Yeah, and I know exactly where to find it.

Willow goes to her study and then comes out with a book.  She returns to the dining room and puts the book on the table in front of Sara and opens it to the correct page.

                          WILLOW
Its not a difficult spell, but it is
              sensitive.

                          RUBY
So youve done the spell before?

                          WILLOW
Well, not exactly.  Ive done a similar one.
I used it to take away a memory, not bring
              one back.

                          SARA
Lethes Bramble?  Do you have any of that?

                          WILLOW
              No, I dont.  I dont...ummm...keep it
around any more.  But I can get some at
Spell Bound.  Theres just one thing.

                          ANDREW
              What?

                          WILLOW
Sara, youll have to be the one to do the
spell.  Are you sure youre up for it?

                          SARA
              Im up for it.

INT. WILLOWS HOUSE - THE LIVING ROOM - DAY

Andrew and Ruby are on the sofa.  Willow and Sara are sitting on the floor, cross-legged and facing one another.  A cauldron, a candle, a crystal, and a small batch of Lethes Bramble sit on an altar cloth.  Sara strikes a match, lights the candle, then blows out the match.

                          SARA
              You ready?

                          WILLOW
                   (nods)
              You?

                          SARA
Ready as Ill ever be.  Lets do it.

Sara picks up the Lethes Bramble and the crystal.  She sticks the Lethes Bramble in the flame of the candle to ignite it.

                          SARA
For Willows sake, this I char.  Return the
              memory of her Dark Star.

Sara places the burning bramble in the cauldron.  Then she touches the crystal to the flames of the bramble.

                          SARA
When the flame is done and the crystals
black, let Willows memory come right back.

The crystal begins to glow as the bramble burns.  When the bramble burns down, the crystal glows brightly once, then turns black.  Willow jumps as the spell hits her, then she falls out, her body jerking.

                          SARA
              Willow!

                          ANDREW
              Whats wrong with her?

                          RUBY
Is it supposed to do that?

                          SARA
              I dont know!

Sara moves to Willows side and pulls Willows head into her lap.  As she does so, she gets sucked into the spell.  She stiffens as the spells power moves through her.

                          ANDREW
Oh no!  Now its got Sara, too!

Andrew goes to touch Willow and Sara, but Ruby holds him back.

                          RUBY
Andrew, no!  You might get hit too.  Just
let the spell run its course.

Andrew and Ruby watch helplessly as Willow and Sara ride out the effects of the spell.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (WATCHING IN WILLOWS MIND)

Willow is standing at the curb of the sidewalk where she first met Wai-Yi.  Shes watching herself walking down the street near her office.  Then she notices Sara next to her.

                          WILLOW
              What are you doing here?

                          SARA
                   (sheepishly)
Sorry.  I kind of got sucked in.  I seem to
be doing a lot of that lately.

They turn back to watch the memory play out.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (THE MEMORY)

Willow is walking down the street near her office.  She is not paying attention and doesnt see Wai-Yi, who steps in front of her out of a doorway.  She falls down, dropping her bag.  She looks up -- at first annoyed then not, deciding its nothing to get angry over.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (WATCHING IN WILLOWS MIND)

Sara nudges Willow and points at Wai-Yi.

                          SARA
Thats him!  The man I saw.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (THE MEMORY)

Wai-Yi bows slightly to Willow, who is still on the ground.

                          WAI-YI
              Forgive me, I beg you.

                          WILLOW
                   (waving it off)
              Oh, its no biggee.

                          WAI-YI
              Here, let me help you.

Wai-Yi holds out both of his hands to help Willow up.

                          WILLOW
              Okay.

Willow puts both her hands in his and lets him lift her to her feet.  When he does, they make eye contact.  Willow is immediately mesmerized.

                          WILLOW
                   (slowly, almost groggily)
              Thanks.

Willow is caught in his thrall, unable to break from his gaze.  Wai-Yi pulls her into his arms.  Willow doesnt resist.  He strokes her face gently.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (WATCHING IN WILLOWS MIND)

Sara crosses her arms tightly across her chest.  Willows mouth drops open as she watches herself in total disbelief.

                          WILLOW
What is he -- ?  Why am I letting him
              do that?

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (THE MEMORY)

Wai-Yi continues to stroke Willows face while shes pinned by his stare.

                          WAI-YI
                  (whispering)
             My Dark Star.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (WATCHING IN WILLOWS MIND)

Willow waves her hands in recognition of the key phrase.

                          WILLOW
There!  There!  He said it.  He called me
his Dark Star.  But what does it --

Willows mouth drops open again as she watches.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (THE MEMORY)

Wai-Yi leans in slowly, then kisses Willow, slowly, passionately.  Again, Willow does not resist.

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (WATCHING IN WILLOWS MIND)

                          WILLOW
Wh-wh-what is he...what is he doing to me?

                          SARA
                  (irked)
             Its called kissing, Willow.

                          WILLOW
             Oh my god...

EXT. WILLOWS OFFICE - DAY (THE MEMORY)

Wai-Yi ends the kiss, and Willow is passed out.  Wai-Yi strokes her face once again.

                          WAI-YI
Soon, My Beloved.  Soon, you will be mine.

Wai-Yi dematerializes, leaving Willow standing alone in the middle of the sidewalk.  Willow wakes up, confused.  She picks up her dropped bag and heads down the street.

INT. WILLOWS HOUSE - THE LIVING ROOM - DAY

Willow and Sara both return to consciousness with a sudden intake of breath.  Willow sits up.  Sara gets up and walks a few steps away with her back turned.

                          RUBY
             Are you two okay?

                          ANDREW
             Did it work?

                          SARA
                  (sharply, over her shoulder)
             Oh, it worked all right!

Willow looks at Sara with a pained expression on her face.

                          RUBY
             What did you find out?

                          WILLOW
                  (tearing her gaze from Sara)
I met Wai-Yi earlier this week, outside my
office.  But he did something to me to make
             me forget about it.

                          ANDREW
             What happened?

                          WILLOW
             He...ummm...he...uhhh...

                          SARA
                  (turning around)
He kissed her.  And he called her his Dark
             Star and his Beloved.

                          ANDREW/RUBY
             What?

                          WILLOW
He put some kind of mojo on me, put me in
his thrall, you know, like Dracula or
             something.  I was powerless.

                          RUBY
Well, I think that answers our question of
what he wants from you.  He wants you as his
             mate.

                          WILLOW|
No.  He doesnt want me.  He wants Evil
Willow.  Thats why he brought Warren in.
He was trying to re-create the events that
pushed me over the edge before.

                          ANDREW
             Taras death?

                          WILLOW
                  (nods)
             Or the next best thing.

Willow looks nervously at Sara, who wont return her glance.

                          RUBY
             So, what do we do?

                          WILLOW
                  (lifts her hands helplessly)
             I dont know.

                          SARA
                  (angrily determined)
We research.  We find out what he is and we
find a way to kill him. And then we do just
             that.  Any questions?

Willow, Andrew, and Ruby all look at Sara, wide-eyed.  They look briefly at each other, then shake their heads.
