Summary: Buffy quizzes Willow on her love life, and a bet is made.

Part 1

"Come on Wills, spill! Who's the guy?" Buffy nudged her best friend as she took another bite of the carton of mint chocolate chip ice cream they were sharing.

"What guy? There's no guy!" Buffy raised an eyebrow when the redhead quickly turned away to hide her reddening face.

"Yeah, right, like I believe that." Buffy laughed when Willow turned to stick her tongue out at the blonde.

"There is no guy." Willow was adamant as she stabbed her spoon into the carton, retrieving a heaping bite of minty chocolate goodness. Buffy watched her try to fit the whole thing in her mouth, and a grin split her face.

"Okay, Willow, fine. I believe you. There's no guy." Buffy ate another spoonful.

"Thank you, Buffy. You know I can't lie while I'm eating ice cream." She giggled, as she put another bite into her mouth.

"I know," Buffy smirked, "So. Who's the girl?"

Willow choked on her ice cream, causing a chocolate chip to go down the wrong tube. Buffy patted her on the back while she laughed at her friend's reaction. After Willow had swallowed the bite, and taken a drink of milk to wash it down, she spoke.

"How'd you know?!"

"Well, you said there was no guy." Willow raised an eyebrow at that. "And you did more staring at Cordelia than researching today. Which really isn't like you, Will." There was no way that Buffy could not tease her best friend about being too preoccupied to research. She was rewarded with even more blushing on the part of the redhead.

"Well, we had to do that science project together last week…and she's really not as bad as she seems. I mean, she saw my movie collection, and immediately wanted to watch Murder on the Nile…who'd have thought that Cordelia Chase was an Agatha Christie fan?" Willow's mind drifted off…

"You do realize that I'm never going to stop teasing you about this. Especially until you do something about it." Buffy glanced at her friend.

"Do something? What do you mean, "Do something?"

"Willow, if all those little secretive glances Cordy has been giving you for the past couple days mean nothing is happening between you two, then I'll…hell, I'll kiss Giles."

"He he, Buffy, you say that like it's a bad thing!"

"Hey, just because you find him attractive, doesn't mean I do! I mean, he's my watcher! That's just gross!" Willow grinned at Buffy's reaction.

"So, if I make an effort to pursue something with Cordy, and something happens, you'll kiss Giles?"

It was too late to back out. Besides, Buffy thought, Willow should be happy. Even if it took that cheerleader to do it. Though I will have to do the best friend threat thing… "Yes. You go on a date with Cordelia Chase, and I will kiss Rupert Giles."

"It's a deal." Willow was giggling on the inside…because, what she had left out was what else had happened on that night last week. Sure, they finished their science project first but…She smiled wistfully as she recalled how they had ended up next to each other by the end of the movie…how Cordelia had been playing with her hair for the last half hour…how they both sighed as the murderer was found out and brought to justice. When Cordelia had gotten up to leave, she had reached her hand out to Willow, presumably to help her up. Instead, Cordelia pulled the redhead flush against her body, and laid a chaste kiss on her lips.

"I had fun, Willow…We'll have to do this again." She could still hear Cordelia's husky voice in her head. The cheerleader stroked her cheek once, and then gathered her things and left a wide-eyed hacker in her wake.

"Hey Wills, you want anymore ice cream?" Willow mentally shook herself. Buffy was holding the carton towards her.

"Nah, thanks, we can just save the rest for Xander."

"Nuh uh, I was just checking to see if you wanted any more. If you don't, I'm finishing it!" Buffy took another huge bite of ice cream, and Willow laughed.

"Okay, Buff, you slay that ice cream! I've gotta go finish that history paper…talk to you tomorrow?" Willow was gathering her stuff from around Buffy's room.

"You know it. And I hope you know that I am so not looking forward to kissing Giles."

Willow left laughing, hoping that Buffy would have to play kissy-face with the Watcher. For one thing, it would be funny as hell. And for another…it would mean that she had gone on a date with Cordelia Chase.
