Summary: Willow and Buffy come across each other after seven years.

Chapter 1

Willow walked through the park, lost in her thoughts, going where her feet led her. It wasn't until she heard children laughing that she looked up and saw where she ended up. She smiled and went to sit on a bench near the playground. She watched the children play and laugh like there wasn't a thing wrong with the world, just living for the moment. She pondered back to when she was just as care free, but found it hard to remember. Ever since she knew about vampires and demons and…. Slayers, she didn't really pay attention to all things innocent. It had been so long since she had been here; it must have been a little over seven years.

Some of these kids weren't even born back then, she thought and smiled to herself. A little girl on the swing caught her attention; there was something about the way she laughed and the shape of her eyes. Willow was so captivated by the girl that she didn't notice someone sitting beside her.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?' a voice softly said.

Willow turned her head startled, who she saw there was someone who she'd never thought seeing again.

"Buffy, what are you doing here?" Willow asked surprised. Buffy ignored her question and nodded towards the little girl that was now playing tag with other kids.

"You know, sometimes I think that the Powers That Be were sorry for everything they put me through and that's why they gave her to me." Buffy almost whispered, once again going down memory lane.

"She's-" Willow started but was interrupted by a thrilled squeal in their direction.

"Mommy!" Buffy stood up and caught the hysterically laughing girl before swinging her around. After a few moments Buffy stopped twirling and sat down with the little girl on her lap.

"Did you have fun with Davy and the others, baby? Are you ready to go home?" Buffy asked but the girl squirmed in her arms.

"I don't wanna go home yet, just a little longer? Please mommy?" the dark-haired girl stuck out her bottom lip and made it quiver, looking at Buffy with puppy eyes. Buffy looked as if she was thinking hard then she smiled and set the girl on the ground.

"A few more minutes, then we're going." The girl didn't stay long enough to answer and ran off to the others.

"You're a mom." Willow stated after a few moments, observing the whirlwind chasing a boy.

"Yup." Was the blonde's reply.

"Married?" She questioned. To her unconscious relief the blonde shook her head.

"For seven years I've been her only parent, no one but me. She doesn't know her father, for which I'm very happy. He's an ass." For a split second Buffy let her guard down as she gazed in the eyes of her former best friend. But just like it came down, it went back up and she looked away from Willow.

"Seven years? Buffy, how-"

"Will, let's go. Auntie Dawn is waiting." Buffy called to her daughter as she stood up and slowly walked to the entrance of the park. When the seven-year old caught up with her mother she grabbed her hand and sped up the pace a bit.

"Will?" she pondered for a few seconds then jumped up and went after the Slayer.

Chapter 2

"Buffy!" Willow shouted but Buffy didn't look back. Her daughter on the other hand pulled her mothers hand in an attempt to stop her.

"Mommy, that lady is calling your name. It's not nice to ignore people like that, you said so yourself." Buffy halted and grabbed her keys from her pocket.

"Will, baby. Go open the car and get in. I'll be right there, lock the doors, okay?" Little Will nodded and took the keys before dashing to the car that was parked right next to the entrance.

"Buffy, seven years ago?"

"Seven years ago, you broke up with Kennedy and left to go to Europe. I just started in that cocktail bar and was depressed I would never see you again so I slept with some guy who was passing through and claimed to love me but ditched me when I found out I was pregnant and didn't wanna 'get rid off it'. And now I really need to go." Buffy was on the verge of breaking down in tears so she turned away but Willow made her look at her.

"Buffy, look at me. I'm sorry I left; you should've told me you were pregnant. When I came back Xander said you took off. He didn't tell me you had a kid. Neither did Giles or Dawn. She would've known if she was an aunt, right?" Willow asked, trying to look in the Slayer's eyes.

"I told them not to say anything to you. Because you might've wanted to find me and I didn't want you to. I wasn't ready for you." Buffy admitted "Look, can we talk about this later because Dawn is really waiting for us."

Willow nodded and moved forward to give the Slayer a hug but Buffy took a step back.

"Don't, please." She pleaded and turned to walk away but Willow grabbed her arm.

"Buffy, I came back when I realized that the only person I'd ever love and need was you. I don't know why you named your girl Will, but I know that I can't spend another minute without you in my life." After she said that she placed a soft kiss on Buffy's lips. Willow pulled away and noticed that Buffy's eyes were closed; a tiny smile crawled its way up but disappeared when she saw tears rolling down Buffy's cheeks. She took her best friend's face in her hands and wiped the tears away with her dumb.

"Buffy, look at me?" Willow almost begged for some kind of reaction.

"I have to go, it's getting late and-" Buffy trailed off as she looked in the eyes of the person she loved for as long as she can remember.

"And what? Tell me you're not seeing anyone; tell me you don't hate me. Say you love me. Say anything. Please." The Wiccan suddenly felt very naked and scared.

"Will, you know damn well I don't hate you! It's just complicated right now. Everything's different, I'm different. I have a daughter for gods' sake!" Buffy said agitated.

"I don't give a rat's ass that you have a daughter, though I'm kind of questioning your choice of name. I thought I told you my name had rights?" That got a small smile from the blonde, remembering the night her and Willow were talking about their unique names and Willow had exclaimed that no one could use that name because it was hers and if they wanted to use it they would have to pay her.

Chapter 3

"I see you didn't give that smile to that girl of yours," Willow joked "because she's definitely got your smile, you know."

"Will,"

"Buffy, I do truly love you. I've been wondering for years what it would be like to have you as my own, to wake up beside you, to fall asleep with you in my arms."

"Willow, it's so hard now. I don't know how to explain this to Will, she doesn't even know I'm attracted to women and I'm not the same person I was all these years ago. What if you don't like who I am?" Buffy sounded scared but this time she didn't try to hide it.

"Buffy, do you love me? I mean are you in love with me?" the words came out shakily and barely above a whisper but Willow had to know.

"The very first moment I laid eyes on you I fell in love with you. I just didn't realize it 'till you met Tara." Buffy admitted sheepishly.

"Then let's just forget the past, we'll start all over. I want to get to know this new you. What do you say?" the redhead implored hoping. When Buffy nodded slightly she was so ecstatic that she could do a happy dance but kept it covered with a huge smile.

"Hi, I'm Buffy." The blonde stuck out her hand. Willow grinned and shook the offered hand.

"Willow. Say, you wouldn't be interested in grabbing a bite at Chucky Cheese or something? I love watching kids play." Willow suggested making Buffy chuckle.

"I'd love to, but not right now. My sister is waiting for me; do you wanna join me and my daughter?" the old Slayer asked playing along.

"Sure. You have a daughter? How old?" Willow cautiously slipped her hand in Buffy's and inwardly sighed relieved when the woman in question squeezed it gently and walked with the young mother to the car.

"She'll turn seven next month. I'm planning to give a little party; you're welcome to come if you want to." Buffy tapped the window to let little Will know that it was okay to unlock the doors. "Oh, do you have your own car? Or do you want to ride with us?"

"I live like five minutes from here, I walked. So I'd like a ride, thank you." In the meanwhile little Will had crawled in the backseat and already fastened her seatbelt, waiting for a moment to ask her mother a load of questions about this woman.

They both stepped in the car and drove off in an uncomfortable silence. That's when the dark-haired girl shot her list of questions in one breath.

"Mommy, who is this lady? Why is she coming with us? Does she know Auntie Dawn? Why were you crying in the park? How does she know your name? Why aren't you talking to each other anymore? Why were you holding hands?" Before Will could go any further Buffy held up her hand, letting her know that she shouldn't be talking to her mother when she was driving. Buffy looked over to Willow and smiled.

"Baby, I'll tell you everything you want o know when we're at Auntie Dawn, okay? What I can tell you now is that this lady's name is Willow and I know her since High School." Buffy glanced in the rear-view mirror and could see new questions forming in that little head but to her relief she kept it to herself.

"She's always asking me a bunch of questions, always wanting to learn new things. Definitely doesn't get it from me." The blonde said. Willow just smiled and cautiously placed her hand on top of Buffy's.

Chapter 4

When they arrived at Dawn's place Willow was the first to step out of the car and head to the front door. Buffy had asked little Will to wait a moment so she could ask her something. When Willow disappeared in the house with Dawn Buffy turned to her daughter.

"Honey, can you keep a secret?" she asked. Little Will enthusiastically nodded her head, happy that her mom might tell her a secret.

"Well, that lady there,"

"You mean Willow." The girl stated.

"Yes, Willow. Well, I need to tell you something about her, but you can't tell anyone. Not auntie Dawn, not uncle Xander, not even granddad. Can you do that?"

"Yes, mommy. Now tell me your secret." The little girl grinned.

"How are you, Dawn? Did you get that lease on the store downtown you wanted?" the redhead asked as she followed the young Summers woman in the living room.

"I'm great and no, I didn't get it yet. But, they said I had a good shot at it, so I'm just waiting for their call." She replied "Do you want a drink? I'm expecting some friends over for dinner but since they're not here yet, you can keep me company."

"I'd love a drink and I know you're expecting Buffy and Will. I ran into them in the park. They're just outside in the car." Willow smiled at Dawn and sat down in the sofa. "Don't worry, I'm not mad or upset or anything. I understand why you didn't say anything."

"So you know about Will? And her father and-" Buffy chose that moment to enter the living room. She had let herself in her baby sister's residence with the spare key Dawn had given her when she first moved in, in case someone might come and look for them.

"Auntie Dawn!" the dark-haired girl squealed and went straight for her aunt's legs which she held onto like it was her life raft.

"Hey sugarpie, how about you let go of my legs and give me a normal hug or I'll have to get the tickle monster." Dawn knew Will would never let her legs go voluntarily. "Okay, it's coming out."

Willow watched in amusement as Dawn waved her hands in all sorts of directions and then came to halt in mid-air. Little Will was already laughing in anticipation and when Dawn started tickling her she let go but knocked her aunt on her behind next to her. It didn't bother Dawn very much because she started tickling her little niece again until the girl squealed to stop.

"Now, did the tickle monster teach you how to say hello?" Dawn asked a little breathless. Will was too exhausted from laughing she just nodded and then crawled to her aunt to give her a proper hug.

"Baby, why don't you go play with Jelly in the backyard." Buffy didn't need to say that twice, Will was up and out in the backyard in just ten seconds.

"Is that rabbit still alive?" Willow asked surprised.

"Barely, but yes." Dawn smiled. "Okay, Buffy, a white wine for you? And for you, Willow?"

"I'll have the same." Willow replied.

Buffy sat down next to Willow and waited for Dawn to come back with their drinks. When she entered she set two glasses and a bottle of white wine on the coffee table, figuring Buffy might need it for courage and Willow…. for the surprises.

"So," Dawn said lingering.

"So…" Willow repeated.

"So, guess I should begin at the start, huh?" Buffy stated and drank the whole content of the glass out in one swig before telling everything.

Chapter 5

…Eight years earlier…

"Willow, goddamnit. Don't you fucking walk away from me!" Kennedy yelled after the redhead. Willow turned around, eyes burning with rage.

"Why not, Kennedy? You think I like hanging around here while you fuck every guy and girl you see? I don't deserve this. You can stay here in Cleveland if you want, play the townslut. I don't give a damn! I'm leaving you and this place. Keep the house and keep the car. Whatever makes you happy, 'cause I'm not!" Willow took her suitcase and slammed the door shut behind her.

She walked two blocks to Buffy and Dawn's house, hoping they'd be home. When she got there Buffy just arrived when she saw Willow and her suitcase.

"Will? Are you okay? What happened?" Buffy ran over to her best friend and pulled the crying girl in her arms. With her Slayerstrenght she lifted the redhead in her arms and took her inside. Once in the living room she laid the girl of her dreams on the sofa next to her, placing Willow's head on her lap who was still crying her eyes out.

"Will, honey, tell me what happened? Please." The sight of her best friend crying broke her heart and brought tears to her eyes as well.

"I knew it and I still didn't do anything. I left Oz for fucking Veruca and I stayed with Kennedy for months after finding out the first time." She sobbed and buried her head against Buffy's stomach.

"She cheated on you? That fucking bitch." Buffy growled "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because you'd kill her." Came the weak reply.

"You're damn right I would. And am going to. How can she cheat on you? You're the most amazing, beautiful, smart, funny and wonderful person on this whole planet." Buffy pulled her closer and let her cry for about an hour when Willow's tears slowly stopped. She turned on her back and looked with her puffy red eyes up at Buffy.

"I can't stay here. I'm leaving Cleveland, tonight." She softly said.

"You can't leave because of that slut. You have to stay, please." Buffy's eyes were really tearing up now. "I love you, Will. Please don't go."

Willow sat up straight and looked at the blonde. She very slowly leaned in and placed a barely touching kiss on the Slayer's lips then stood up and left the Summers woman alone to cry.

…Present…

"The last time I saw Kennedy, I had beaten the crap out of her. Hurting her for cheating on you," she avoided eye-contact with Willow and took another sip from her glass, knowing that Willow already knew what happened that last day, but Dawn didn't and she deserved to know as well. "I made her leave Cleveland. A few weeks after she left I tried calling you to tell you to come back but I hung up the moment you answered. I kinda left Cleveland pretty much right after that not-so-successful call." She looked at Dawn remembering how mad and heartbroken she had been that Buffy just up and left without saying a thing.

"Where did you go?" Willow asked.

"I went to Mexico. Nobody knew me there so that kind of worked out great for me. I stayed there for about six months when I came across this guy who kinda came over like the most perfect man ever. So after a few weeks I slept with him. Then I found out I was pregnant and when I told him he said he wanted it gone, because HE wasn't ready." She refilled her glass and emptied it again with one swig, hoping Willow wouldn't ask who he was.

"She called a couple of times a week to let everyone know how she was, but we couldn't tell you. Now I know why." Dawn said to Willow. "Then when you were in England a little over six years ago with Giles she came by with a little surprise, baby Will."

Chapter 6

"So you met her father in that cocktail bar? How in gods name could you think he was a good guy when he goes to a cocktail bar?" Willow asked a little angry but kept in as neutral as possible.

"I didn't meet him in the cocktail bar; he helped me when my car broke down." She said defensively.

"When did you move back?" the redhead suppressed asking who the father was because she figured she didn't really wanted to talk about him.

"About five years ago I moved to Lorain, but last year I found a place a few blocks down so we're kinda living there." She looked away from the hurt look in Willow's eyes.

"Oh. So you've been living back here for a year and-"

"Mommy, I'm hungry. Can we eat now? Jelly fell asleep." Will came in the living room with a pouted lip.

"Okay, what do you wanna eat? It's your time to choose today." Dawn stood up and walked over to Will.

"I wanna eat spaghetti." Her sulky mood from a minute ago was now gone and replaced by a wide grin.

"Wanna help me set the table and make dinner ready?" Dawn smiled at the enthusiastic bouncing girl and followed her running in the kitchen.

"Buff, could you look at me?" Willow asked but Buffy didn't look at her, she just stared in her lap. Willow took the blondes hands into hers and ducked her head down to get a reaction from Buffy, and then she noticed that the young woman's lap was getting wet.

"Buffy, don't cry? I'm not angry or anything. Just a little hurt but I'll get over it, don't cry baby please." Willow pleaded.

"I'm so sorry Willow, but I just couldn't handle seeing you again. I was so scared you'd never want to see me again. I should've called you when Dawn told me you were back." She looked up with tears streaming down her face "The day Will was born; they asked me what her name was. The only name I could think of was Willow. You were the only one in my mind when she was born. I thought that if I'd never see you again I'd still have a bit of you, no matter where I went." She started weeping and laid her head in Willow's lap.

"I missed you so much. I was just too scared to face you. Afraid you'd hate me forever." She whispered sobbing.

"Buffy, I could never hate you. Not now, not in a few years, not ever!" Willow said firmly, trying not to cry herself.

"Not even now you know about my baby? You can't say you're not angry for me having a kid and you not knowing for seven years." Buffy's tears slowed down but didn't stop completely. She nervously drew lazy circles on Willow's thighs.

"I'm a little hurt but not angry. On some level I can understand why. But I really don't care; she's your girl and seeing you with her melts my heart. I want to be in your life and I'd be honored if I could be in her life as well." Willow replied, trying to sound subtle that she hoped for something more than friendship.

"I'd like that, but I don't want her to know yet. I don't know how she'd react to her mom loving and kissing another woman." The tears have stopped but Buffy didn't move from her place.

"I can wait."

Buffy turned on her back on looked with red eyes up to the redhead. They stayed like that for a few minutes, looking in each others eyes when Willow slowly bowed down and placed a chaste, soft kiss on the Slayer's lips.

Chapter 7

Dinner was filled with mostly little Will telling about her weekend. Dawn noticed the occasional glances between the two other women; she smiled to herself and wondered how long it would take for Buffy to tell the others she was gay and in love with her best friend.

"Willow?" Willows head snapped up when little Will called her name.

"Yes?" she looked at the girl.

"Do you like children?" she asked with a mouth full of spaghetti.

"Sweetie, don't talk with your mouth full." Buffy scolded.

"Sorry," she swallowed her food and looked at Willow "well, do you?"

"Yeah, I love kids." Willow smiled.

"It's almost my birthday; you can buy me a Barbie if you want? And come to my birthday party." Will said not too subtle.

"Willow Summers, tell me you did not just ask someone you just met to buy you a Barbie." Buffy said taken aback.

"I invited her to my party, too." Will countered, not getting what was wrong with asking a birthday present.

"It's okay, Buffy." Willow smiled at her then turned to little Will "I'd like to come to your birthday party and if your mommy tells me that you've been a good girl, I'll buy you a Barbie."

Will grinned and finished her spaghetti in a hurry then jumped of her chair and brought her dish to the kitchen. When she came back out she wore an oversized apron of Dawn and started clearing the table.

"Hey, I'm not done with that yet." Dawn whined when Will took away her plate.

"Now you are, we're going to watch TV, and then mommy is taking me home to put me to bed because it's been a long day." Will accentuated the last part with a big fake yawn.

"Now you've done it. My niece wants to leave here as quickly as possible because 'good girls go to sleep when they are told'." Dawn mock scolded Willow.

"Don't blame me; I can't help it if she wants a Barbie that bad." Willow held her hands up in defeat.

"That's because I never bought her one. She ripped the heads of the Barbie's of her friends." Buffy spoke up.

"You're kidding?" Willow asked.

"No, really and when I asked her why she said it was because she thought they were vampires because humans can't look that good." Buffy explained with a dry smile.

"She knows about vampires?" Willow posed dumbfounded.

"Yup, thanks to dear old Giles. He just couldn't wait to ask me when I started patrolling again because the other Slayers are getting scared with every week another Apocalypse and they needed some guidance and whatever. He FORGOT the fact that my daughter was in the room when he asked. And of course, knowing my Will, she wouldn't let the subject go." Buffy sighed but smiled.

"Well, you can go home if you want? I kinda have a date anyway." Dawn stood up and went into the kitchen to do the dishes.

"A date? A date with who? You never mentioned you were dating again." Buffy followed her little sister.

"First of all, it's 'whom', not 'who' and second, I don't need to tell my overprotective sister I'm dating again." Dawn replied "Come on, help me with the dishes and I'll tell you more" she threw a kitchen towel at Buffy.

Little Will had removed herself from the kitchen and had gone in the living room, switching on the TV. Willow soon joined the small girl in the couch.

"So, how do know Auntie Dawn? Mom said she knew you from High School, but how do you know Auntie Dawn?" Will asked without looking.

"Your mom and I were best friends for years. I moved in their house in Sunnydale after your grandmother died. Dawn was just a kid back then, so I helped your mom take care of her." Willow answered.

"Oh." Will turned of the TV and turned around to face Willow.

"You have the same name like me. My mom said my name was special. Does that make you special, too?" Will pulled up her legs to her chest and watched the redhead with great interest.

"I don't know. Maybe." Willow smiled at the curious girl who smiled in return.

"Do you like my mom? I mean, really like her? Like grandpa liked grandma." The girl witnessed several emotions finding its way on Willows face. "You can tell me, I'm not that stupid, and I know my mom likes you."

"And you're okay with that?" Willow questioned.

"Yeah, okay it's kinda weird, you know. My mom liking another girl, but Davy's dad likes another guy and he's okay with that so I can be okay with that too." Will shrugged.

"Will, how about we go to the park someday, just the two of us? I'd like to get to know you better, if that's okay with you?" Willow somewhat relaxed. She was very surprised that this barely seven-year old could act so…mature; but then again, there's a mother and a father, she maybe got it from the father.

"Can we have ice-creams?" Will beamed.

"Sure, why not." The redhead grinned.

"MOMMY! WILLOW IS TAKING ME TO THE PARK TOMORROW!" she yelled out to the kitchen.

Willow laughed and thought it was a good idea that she took a week off from work.

Chapter 8

Willow sat on the porch of Buffy's home, waiting for Buffy to come back. She closed her eyes and allowed her magic to flow through her. She opened her eyes and watched flowers growing in the shape of a heart in the front yard. She smiled and breathed in deep.

"This is where I belong." She whispered to herself.

"Well, the little whirlwind's been put to bed." Buffy announced as she joined Willow on the porch. She looked in the direction where Willow was looking and sighed fondly.

"Did you do that?" she asked laying her head on Willows shoulder.

"Yeah. It's kinda cheesy, but I just felt like it." Willow responded. She moved her arm around the blonde's waist and held her close.

"Will?" Buffy asked after a few comfortable silent moments.

"Yeah?" Willow placed a kiss on the top of her Slayers head.

"Do you, uhm…Do you wanna come in and maybe, stay tonight?" Buffy asked shyly and lifted her head to meet the redhead's eyes.

"Are you sure?" Willow questioned, she wanted this more than anything but she didn't want Buffy to rush herself.

"I'm sure." Buffy placed a little kiss on the woman's lips and stood up. She held out her hand and smiled as Willow took it and followed her in the house.

When they came at the bedroom Willow paused before Buffy could open the door.

"You're absolutely sure about this? I don't want you to rush into things, I really can wait. I've waited for years, a few days or weeks won't matter that much." Willow said kindly.

Buffy didn't reply, she just opened the door and gently pulled Willow in the room with her. She closed the door and removed her shirt. Willow involuntarily purred silently and sat on the king-sized bed. Buffy slowly eliminated her clothing until she was down to her black thong and bra. She moved to the bed and started kissing Willow in her neck, taking off her jacket and only moving away to remove the excessive pieces of clothing. Soon the two women were lying on the bed. Willow lay on top of the blonde, kissing her passionately, not wanting to leave this place but had other plans for her Slayer.

"Will," Buffy breathed as Willow licked her way down. Buffy arched her back and Willow took advantage of that by quickly removing Buffy's bra. Buffy reached behind Willow and before the redhead noticed, her bra was gone as well.

"God, this feels soooo good." Buffy purred. Willow grinned and arrived at her destination. She placed a wet kiss on the fabric of her girlfriend's thong while subtly pulling it down. When the thong was removed she kissed her way up the slender legs until her nose came in touch with the wetness she would soon claim hers.

She dipped two fingers dreadfully slow in her lover and twirled her tongue painfully slow around the sensitive nub, causing Buffy to moan low. She wanted to prolong this feeling as long as possible but the begging of Buffy melted her heart and she sped up her movements.

Buffy grabbed a pillow and moaned loudly into it, trying to silence her cries of pleasure. Willow replaced her fingers with her tongue, delving deep in the moisture that was solely and uniquely Buffy.

"Shit, fuck…. Damn I'm so close. Don't stop." Buffy groaned bucking her hips. Willow grinned, enjoying the sounds of desire she could deliver. When Buffy reached her climax she began to suck the sensitive nub, intensifying the feeling.

Buffy came with a scream of Willow's name muffled by the pillow. When she came back down Willow lapped a few times in the length, not getting enough of the taste. She crawled up to hold Buffy, who was trembling slightly.

"Are you okay?" Willow asked softly.

"More than okay." Buffy kissed the redhead tasting herself on Willow's lips.

"I love you, Buffy. I really do." Willow spoke lovingly.

"That's great, because I love you too. Now, how can I repay you for the mind-blowing orgasm you just gave me?" Buffy wiggled here eyebrows and repaid Willow more than once that night, and Willow returning the favor.

Chapter 9

The next morning little Will was already up at 5am and wanted to crawl in bed with her mother, like she usually did when she noticed her mom lying sprawled over a certain redhead. She giggled and was about to leave the room when she heard her mother call out to her.

"It's okay, you can get in." Buffy had a strong feeling the girl would sneak in so she gave Willow some PJ's and put on some herself before they fell asleep. Buffy turned to lie on her side and smiled when the redhead next to her instantly turned and flung her arm around her.

Little Will rushed to the bed and crawled next to Buffy. She snuggled up close to her and found it easy to fall asleep again, at least for another hour or three. Buffy didn't allow herself to fall asleep before her baby was asleep. She lay there, wondering and smiling at how it could be that her life could be so good after so much pain and sorrow.

When Buffy woke up again she was alone in the bed. No more girls, just a cold bed. She looked at her alarm clock and saw that it was already 11am. She stretched and listened carefully if she could hear someone in the house, but there was no one. She sat up straight, rubbing her eyes tiredly. She stepped out of bed and went in search for someone. When she got to the kitchen she noticed a little note. She furrowed her brows and picked it up. It was mostly Willow's writing but some words were her daughter's.

'Good morning sweetie, Will was begging me to go to the park so that's where we are in case you're wondering, which I'm sure you are. Breakfast is on the table and we'll be back around dinnertime. Bye. Lots of love and kisses. Your Willows.'

Buffy smiled at the last part and sighed happily. She walked over to the table and grinned at the amount of pancakes there were.

"Guess I'm visiting Giles today." She murmured to herself and began satisfying her rumbling stomach.

"Higher, Willow. I wanna fly." Little Will screamed. Willow laughed and pushed the swing harder, trusting on her magic to keep the little girl on the seat. She was distracted for a mere second but the little girl jumped of the swing in the air, Willow was quick to react and made sure she didn't hurt herself when she landed smoothly on her feet.

"Hey Will? Why don't you go get some ice-creams?" She went into her pocket and retrieved some money. Will scurried off to the ice-cream stand as Willow turned to a group of mothers that caused her distraction.

"Can I help you?" one of the mothers asked polite.

"Yes actually. What's wrong with a grown woman playing with a girl?" she asked sternly.

"Nothing, it's just that, well we've never seen you playing with her before. We haven't seen you before ever. Usually it's that blonde woman-"

"You mean Buffy, the mother." Willow interrupted.

"Yes, Buffy. And Will can be a bit naïve so we were just worried." Another woman said.

"If you're so worried then why don't you call Buffy? And Will isn't a little naïve, she's seven, she likes everyone at that age." Willow crossed her arms and challenged the women to say what they were thinking.

"We don't have her cell phone number. Only Virginia, Davy's mother, has it and she's not here."

Willow wanted to say something very un-Willow-like but little Will pulled her sleeve, handing the redhead her change and an ice-cream.

"Can we go sit there?" she pointed to a bench at the other side of the playground.

"Sure honey." She took the small girl's hand and left without saying a word to the obvious gossipers of Cleveland suburbia.

"I hope you weren't making friends with them. Mommy says they're not nice people because they don't like people different from them." Will said as she sat on the bench and licked her ice-cream.

"No, I wasn't making friends. Your mommy's right, they're not very nice people." Willow said next to her and began talking to the little girl, discovering that she was a very bright girl.

Chapter 10

When Buffy opened the door she was pleasantly surprised to find little Will piggy-back riding on her redhead. Willow winked and hopped in the house with Will laughing. When she came in the living room she started wobbling.

"Oh no, I think I'm gonna fall." She said with mock fear and dropped to her side on the couch letting the little girl land softly.

"Again, Willow, again!" little Will shouted.

"No, baby. It's time for dinner, I made burgers." Buffy beamed. Little Will rolled her eyes and slumped of the couch.

"Unpacking burgers and heating them in the microwave isn't the same as cooking, mom." Little Will stuck out her tongue and giggled at the mock hurt impression on her mother's face. She walked up to her and looked at her questioning.

"That's not very nice." Buffy crossed her arms and pouted like a little kid.

"And you're not being very adulty right now." The little girl smirked.

"Get in there." Buffy nudged her daughter to the dining room and developed her girlfriend in a hug.

"So, how was today? Not to tiring?" Buffy asked.

"No, just some women being über-ridiculous and all." Willow gave the blonde a little kiss and joined the dark-haired kid in the dining room.

"What did they say?" Buffy asked curious.

"Nothing really serious, it was just the way they said it that got to my nerves. Like I'd do something wrong, seriously. It's not because I was kinda bad and skanky and evil a long time ago doesn't mean I still am. I mean I kinda helped save the world, right? I altered it. I bet that if it wasn't for my risky spellthingy that they wouldn't even be alive, but do they think about that? No, they just-"

"Will, breathe," Buffy stopped Willow from babbling and breathed with her "You're not evil or skanky or something like that. Just tell me what they said." Buffy continued.

"There was this serious looking woman saying to these other women, in a not so subtle way I might add, like 'Oh, look at that woman playing with Will, next thing you know Will will be going home with her' and blablabla. Like I'm some kind of child molester." Willow said a little heated.

"It's okay, sweetie. That was just Helen and her friends, they're like Harmony with the can't-shut-up-thing mixed with the always-minding-someone-else's-business-thing only ten times worse. And their kids, they're just a bad. Right baby?" she asked little Will.

"Yeah, Kimberly is always spying around and when she sees something she tells everyone at school. Nobody likes her only her friends. Not even her brother likes her, but he likes me." Little Will beamed slightly and forced a huge potato in her mouth

"Is he your boyfriend?" Buffy teased.

"No," Will blushed and looked down "we're just friends."

"So the boy's nicer than the girl? I have to keep up with these things if I'm gonna be around more." Willow winked.

"Yes, Kimberley and Jimmy are twins but they always fight. I don't see that a lot, a twin biting and scratching and practically killing each other." Buffy shuddered "It's kinda weird to see. The only difference with those two is that the Jimmy has short hair and Kimberly long hair."

"Hah, okay. So when are we going to see this boyfriend of yours?" Willow asked smirking.

"You're not! Because I don't have a boyfriend. I'm only six and eleven months." Will replied innocent.

"I bet that you're mom didn't know how many months there were in a year until she was like eleven." Willow joked.

"Hey, I resent that." Buffy's head shot up.

"You gotta admit, Buffy. She doesn't have your brains." Willow defended.

"Yeah, thank god for that. I don't think I could handle someone with my brains." She shrugged and finished her plate and quickly refilled it.

Chapter 11

"Mommy, do you love me?" Little Will asked Buffy while getting tucked in.

"Of course I do, baby. You're my daughter and the most important person in my life, my big and complicated life with a lot of troubles. You don't have to ask that. Why would you ask that, honey?" Buffy sat next to her daughter on the bed and looked at her inquiring.

"If Willow said last night that she didn't like kids, would you leave me like daddy did?" she questioned.

"Will, I could never leave you. No one can make me leave you, no man or woman. You're mine and as long as you stay this cute and kissable, you're not going anywhere and neither am I. You're not even moving away for college, I tell you that. And if a guy wants to marry you? He can just take his fancy car and ring and head on back home, you're staying with me." Buffy smiled and kissed her dark-haired girl.

"And Willow?" Will probed.

"She can't shut up about you. If you don't like her, it's kinda tough because she's crazy about you." Buffy smirked.

"Willow can do magic, right?" little Will piped up when Buffy stood from the bed.

"Yeah, how did you know?" Buffy looked at her.

"She told me today and showed me a trick. Come here, I'll show you which one." She threw away her covers and sat up straight. Buffy watched delighted as little Will started waving her arms in the air and sat cross-legged on the bed.

"Hoogedee-boogedee. Here comes the money." Will chanted and pulled a coin from behind Buffy's ear.

"How did you do that?" Buffy asked amused.

"Nope, not telling." Will giggled and crawled under her covers.

"Okay, good night, little magician." Buffy kissed her forehead and headed out the room.

"Mommy, can Willow come and say good night?" little Will whispered sleepy.

"Sure, sweetie." Buffy left the room and was not surprised to find the redhead standing outside.

"You did the coin-thing, didn't you?" Buffy stated grinning.

"Yeah, she wanted to do a trick so I decided to help a little." She winked and stepped in the room.

"Hey little firecracker, did you have fun today?" Willow asked looking at the girl.

"Yeah, I did. Willow, sing for me?" the seven-year old yawned and scooted over a little and Willow took that as a hint to lie next to her. "Mommy used to sing for me, but daddy said that he hated the sound of her singing so she doesn't sing anymore."

"You knew your dad?" Willow asked confused.

"Yeah, but he left after a big fight with mommy because mommy wanted to tell Auntie Dawn he was back but he didn't want that." She cuddled closer to Willow, who decided to let it go for now because the girl was exhausted. Choosing a song she had heard in Australia she opened her mouth and tried to make it as pleasant as possible.

"Sometimes I feel like I'm a bird with broken wings. At times I dread my now and envy where I've been 'cause that's when quiet wisdom takes control. At least I've got a story no one's told." She opened her arm and let the girl cuddle closer as she sang.

"I finally learned to say, whatever will be will be. I learned to take the good, the bad and breathe. 'Cause although we like to know what life's got planned, no one knows if shooting stars will land." She noticed the girl had fallen asleep and tried to crawl out but Will had her in a tight grip.

"Buffy." She whispered softly, knowing that the blonde could hear her anywhere she was in the house. A few moments later she saw Buffy's silhouette from the door way.

"I can't get out." Willow tried not to laugh. Buffy shook her head chuckling and silently came to her rescue, replacing the warm body of her redhead with a huge stuffed tiger Xander had bought for her.

Once they got in the blondes room Buffy could hardly keep her hands off of Willow but the redhead pulled back.

"Buffy, we need to talk." Willow tried to sound as neutral as she could.

"About what?" Buffy asked confused.

"About Will's father."

Chapter 12

They lay in the bed, neither of them sleeping. Buffy used the redhead's chest as a pillow and listened to her heart beating, finding it soothing. She knew Willow was trying to comprehend why she let herself get treated so badly time and time again but knew it was something nobody could understand, not even she understood.

"I can't explain why, I wish I could but it's so hard." She said more to herself than to Willow.

"I'm trying to get it, I really am. I guess I'll just have to do with knowing he's not getting you back." Willow sighed and kissed the top of Buffy's head.

"No, he isn't. I'm yours now." She lifted her head and planted a sweet kiss on her lover's lips.

"Why did you tell me Will didn't know him?" Willow questioned.

"I didn't think she could remember him. She was barely four years old when he left." Buffy replied.

"Will said you don't sing to her anymore because of…. him." She growled out the last word like it was the foulest word in the world.

"She's right. No matter what he did to me, I did love him and I absorbed his criticism." Buffy admitted shamefully.

"He's an asshole, I heard you sing, remember? I loved to hear you sing, though what you sang tore my heart." Willow pulled her girlfriend closer and breathed in her scent.

"Can we go to sleep now? I'm kinda tired and I gotta get up for taking Will to school and then go to work myself." Buffy managed to say between yawns.

"Of course, baby. G'night." She kissed Buffy and closed her eyes.

"Good night, I love you." Buffy whispered before falling asleep.

The next morning Buffy had a rare opportunity of waking little Will for school. Normally the girl was already dressed and ready to go when Buffy woke up. Willow was downstairs making breakfast when Will bounced her way down the stairs and gave the redhead a happy hug.

"You're very chipper this morning." Willow smiled and handed her a plate of waffles.

"Our class is going to the zoo today." Will grinned "And Davy's dad is sick and his other dad is out of town for a few weeks so we have to pick up Davy and mommy is thinking about letting him stay for a couple of days." Her grin widened as she stuffed a waffle in her mouth.

"I see, now I can understand your chirpiness." She winked at the girl then something hit her. "His other dad? Where's his mother, Virginia?" Little Will opened her mouth but shut it when Buffy came in the room talking to someone on the phone.

"No, it's no trouble, really. Tim, it's fine really. When Virginia gets back in a few days I'll drop Davy off at hers and when you get better you can pick him up there. Yeah, okay I'll be there in a few. Bye." She hung up the phone and planted a big kiss on her lover's lips.

"Yes, he can stay." She said not looking at her daughter but knowing she was dying to know. A cry of joy echoed out of the kitchen as the girl ran up the stairs, getting her room ready.

"He's not staying in your room." Buffy yelled up the stairs.

"What can go wrong? They're just kids." Willow snuggled up behind Buffy and lovingly kissed her neck.

"So? He's a boy and boys don't sleep in the same room as girls." Buffy stated firmly.

"What happened with Davy's parents?" Willow asked still thinking about it.

"Well, Tim fell in love with Mike and told Virginia. She says she kinda figured it so they got divorced. Mike and Tim married a year ago. Davy knows his dad's gay but doesn't mind, he didn't get it at first, but then again, he's just a kid." Buffy turned in Willow's arms and looked at her.

"So, there's Mike, Virginia and Tim. Those are parents you like," she asked trying to memorize it, Buffy nodded "and then there's Helen and her click, and you don't like them?" Buffy smiled and kissed the top of her nose.

"You got it, bravo." She grinned playfully.

"Grr, you get those kids to school and go to work. I'm going to my place and make some calls. How about Chucky Cheese tonight? Let the kids play and we can talk and stuff." Willow questioned.

"Sure, my treat. Take me to lunch later?" Buffy cocked her head and batted her eyelashes.

"Don't' do that. Sure, okay. Pick you up at one?" Buffy nodded and kissed Willow just in time as little Will came bouncing down the stairs and pulled her mother to the car.

Willow waved them off then grabbed her purse and walked home. She was desperate to find where Will's dad lived; hoping not around here and it would be even better news if he got killed in the last three years.

Chapter 13

"Hey, Dana. Did you find anything?" Willow spoke up from behind her desk to a young blonde woman entering her office.

"Yes I did, Miss Rosenberg. He's got a job as a truck driver and lives in Kentucky. The last time he was here he got arrested for beating up a woman called Virginia Waters. He claimed she was kidnapping his daughter, but due to his history of violence they didn't believe him and he went to jail for about a year." The young woman told her boss.

"Anything else?" Willow asked not looking up from her computer.

"No, not yet." Dana looked at Willow and hesitated. Willow noticed the hesitation and looked up.

"It's just that, well. This guy has a serious history of violence against woman, particularly against one woman, Buffy Summers." She noticed the redheads eyes close for a minute and then open. "I was wondering if you knew, because you and Mr. Harris used to talk about her a lot."

"Yeah, I know. She's kinda my girlfriend." She smiled as she thought of the past weekend.

"Then why are you here at the office?" Dana asked bewildered.

"She's gone working; and if it wasn't for my six-monthly week off I'd be working too." She smirked and leaned back in her chair. Dana nodded and headed out to the door.

"Dana, could you call Mr. Harris and have him come by this afternoon? And take the rest of the day off. You've been a great help, thank you." Willow spoke before Dana nodded and left the office.

Willow drove her car up the parking lot at the local High School, seeing the purple Beetle her lover drove she chuckled at how the car stood out between all the other dark-colored cars around. She parked her car next to a classic Mustang and stepped out. She admired the Mustang for a few moments then walked up to the school. Knowing her way around the school because of the few months she had worked here as a teacher made it easy to find the teachers lounge and thus Buffy. She knew she was a little over half an hour early before classes ended but she had ran into an old colleague and started chatting with him.

"It's great to see you again, Willow, but might I ask what you're doing here?" the older man asked.

"I'm here to have lunch with Buffy." Willow beamed.

"She still has a class now." He replied.

"Yeah, I know. I was already done for the day and decided to drop in on old co-workers." She said.

"Come on, I have an idea." The man pulled her through the corridors.

"Matt, where are you taking me?" she laughed as the man practically dragged her.

"Buffy gets nervous when there's someone in her class but it's just so funny to watch. She'll be about ready to freak out when she sees you, I want to see that. I'd pay to see that." He grinned and stopped at a classroom. He slowly opened the door and motioned for Willow to sneak in the classroom.

"So while the French Revolution raged on, the Elite-"Buffy stopped talking as she saw Willow standing at the back of the classroom smiling. The redhead winked and searched for a desk. She sat next to a Cordy-wannabe by the window and waited for her lover to continue. The entire class was now looking at the redhead who shrugged and pointed to the front of the class.

"Aren't you supposed to pay attention?" she said playfully. With that the class turned back to Buffy who was blushing fiercely.

"Who were the Elite, miss?" a girl asked.

"They, uh…. they were upper class people that uh, that weren't wanted by the uh, the very rich people and uh…" Buffy stumbled over her words and moved to the blackboard. "Okay, everyone, I want an essay by next week about the French Revolution." She trembled as she wrote the assignment on the blackboard. "You can start on it now, I'll be right back." She smiled nervously and motioned to Willow to follow her. The class saw it however and started whistling.

"Pipe down, horn dogs." Willow spoke up and chuckled as she followed the blonde. When outside the classroom they both saw Matt just dashing around the corner.

"I saw you, Matt! I'm gonna get you!" she called after him and turned around to be surprised by a pair of soft lips pressed against hers.

Chapter 14

Xander lifted his fist to knock on Willow's office but then heard giggling inside. He pressed his ear to the door and swore he could hear kissing. He grinned widely and quietly opened the door and peeked in. He couldn't see anyone in specific but saw two pairs of feet coming from behind the desk. He carefully sneaked in and tried to look over the desk. Then the room went very quiet, he noticed a pair of feet pulled back and he froze in his place.

"Is anyone there?" he heard Willow call out.

"No, just carry on." He called back, and then smacked himself.

"Xander!" Xander eyes bulged out; he knew that voice. That was….

"Buffy?" he questioned. Two blushing heads revealed just above the desk and Xander slid to the floor. While trying to get rid of the dizziness and the naughty images running through his head he heard rumbling which was an indication that they were getting dressed.

"Xander?" Willow said nervously.

"I'm okay, Will. Just trying not to picture you naked." She shook his head and when he looked up his goofy grin was in its place.

"I was going to tell you. As soon as Buffy's break was over." Willow said and helped Xander up.

"Doesn't your break end at two?" he asked Buffy.

"Yeah?" Buffy replied confused.

"It's almost three." Xander stated checking his watch.

"Shit! Sorry, gotta go." She grabbed her shoes and quickly gave Willow a kiss and tried to put on her shoes.

"Great seeing you, Xan. We're still on for movies this weekend, right?" She asked as she rushed past him.

"Yeah, sure!" He shouted after her then turned to Willow.

"You and Buffy? Since when? How? When? And what about Will? And-"

"Xander!" She interrupted him and smiled "Yes, we're together now. I ran into her and Will last Friday."

"Will, this is huge. This is…No, you have to end it." Xander suddenly said.

"End it? Why? Xander, I love her and I really like Will, she's great." Willow felt a hole in her stomach growing, not understanding why Xander would want that.

"She's been through hell, Willow. She's still scared her asshole of an ex will come back. What if you disappear again? She can't handle that pain again." Xander laid his hands on the redheads shoulder and looked in her eyes.

"I'm not leaving again. I wanna protect her from him and I wanna protect Will. I'm lost without her, Xander. These past eight years were a nightmare, I need her. I don't give a fuck if you so desperately want it to be over between us, I don't. I'm planning on living for the rest of my life with her. If that means I have to hurt, even kill that jerk, I will." The emotions in her voice were so thick Xander didn't doubt her feelings but he was still worried for Buffy and Will.

"Don't mess with her, okay?" Xander's eyes softened and Willow hugged him hard.

"No way." She said firmly.

After a few minutes they released each other and Xander grinned.

"So, now that you're kinda dating again. Can I watch?" he wiggled his eyebrows which got him a playful slap on the chest.

"No. Come on; let's go out for a drink." She pulled the forever-sixteen year old out the door so they could have an easy conversation.

Chapter 15

Days past like minutes and weeks like days and still Willow was happy with Buffy. In three weeks time she had gone to her apartment for a total of four times, to pick up some clothes and her toothbrush.

Tomorrow would be Will's birthday party and Willow had kept her promise. She had bought Will a Barbie, much to the protest of Buffy because it was a waste of money as far as she was concerned.

"If she rips the head of before midnight, don't say I didn't warn you." Buffy had said in the toy store. Willow wasn't that concerned, she told Will that she could detect if it was a vampire if she put it in direct sunlight. If it caught fire it was a vampire. The following day little Will had put all her toys and stuffed animals in the sun, happy they didn't caught fire.

Buffy was with little Will to the store to get supplies for the big day because the little girl had invited practically everyone she knew and liked. Willow was at the house hanging up streamers when the phone rang.

"Hello, Summers' residence." She picked up the phone like she had done a million times thanks to Buffy's lazy antics.

'Hello? Is Buffy-" She slammed down the phone; she knew that voice and hoped she never heard it again.

Half an hour later the phone rang again, but she wasn't in time to pick it up and heard the machine answer it.

'Hi, Buffy. It's me, how've you been?' A male voice was heard 'I called before but someone hung up on me.' At that moment Buffy entered the house carrying groceries and dropped them to the floor when she heard his voice 'I was kind of wondering if I could see you and our girl for her birthday. She must miss me. I miss her and you too. Well, call me back. Bye.' Willow whipped her head around and saw Buffy grabbing her chest and breathing hard. Outside Will slammed the car door shut and dashed her way to the house. As soon as she walked in the house she saw Willow holding her crying mother in her arms.

"Mommy? What happened?" Will asked scared. Buffy quickly turned and wiped her eyes before turning back to her daughter.

"Nothing, sweetie. I stumbled and dropped the groceries on my feet and it kinda hurt." She lied.

"Then you have to lie down." She grabbed her mothers hand and pulled her to the couch. "Come on, on your back. Your feet have to be better by tomorrow; you can't have piny feet on my birthday." She grinned and pushed Buffy on the couch. In the meanwhile Willow had deleted the message and was putting the groceries away.

The next morning Will rushed in her mother's room and started jumping on the bed.

"It's my birthday today! Get up, people are coming to my birthday party!" she yelled excited and kept jumping.

"Baby, it's five am. They won't be here for at least eight hours." Buffy said grumpy. Will kept jumping and squealed when Willow pulled her down in between them.

"Happy birthday, munchkin. If you let us sleep for another three hours I'll give you your present." Willow yawned; she and Buffy had stayed up most of the night talking about Will's father. Willow mostly said he wasn't going to hurt her anymore as Buffy cried and shook from fear.

"Okay, I'll stay here with you." Will said chipper and crawled under the covers between the two women.

Exactly three hours later Will kicked away the covers and started jumping again. Buffy groaned loudly and grabbed her daughter back down and held her close.

"Mommy, it's my birthday." The hazel-eyed girl tried to get out of the death grip but Buffy didn't budge.

"No, it's not. It's my birthday and I want to sleep for my birthday." The blonde replied sleepy.

After a few minutes Buffy relented and released her daughter turning to hold Willow instead but she had vanished from the bed. She sat up and smiled when she saw her enter the room with something behind her back.

"Will, I got something for you." Willow said mischievously. Will spun around and held her hands out to receive the present. Willow chuckled and placed the wrapped gift in her hands. Will yelped from joy and tore the paper off.

"A Barbie!" she shrieked grinning. She jumped in Willow's arms and gave her a kiss.

"Tiffany is going to be so jealous." She said and ran out off the room.

Five hours later people were showing up and soon the house was filled with children laughing and playing, and grown-ups chatting and eating. Buffy had just brought out the birthday cake when the door bell rang.

"Who could that be?" Buffy questioned and went to the door; Willow found it strange as well since everyone who was invited was there and followed her lover. Buffy opened the door and thought she would pass out. Willow stepped in front of Buffy as the man entered the house.

"What the hell are you doing here, Riley?" She spat.

Chapter 16

"Get out, now." Willow said angry. Riley just smiled looking around the hall and heard the noises coming from the living room.

"Is there a party going on? Why wasn't I invited?" He smirked and took a single step towards the living room before being flung back out the door.

"I said out." Willow was trying to keep her voice down so Will wouldn't come and see what was going on but it didn't really help.

"Willow, what's wrong?" She felt the birthday girl tug her sleeve and she looked down.

"Will, baby." By now Riley had stood up and walked back to the house.

"Daddy?" Little Will looked over to Buffy and Willow and then back at the grinning man she knew was her father. With every step Riley took towards her she took one back until he was back in the house.

"I missed you. Didn't you miss me?" Riley asked. Willow wanted to hurt him so bad but had to control herself for Will's sake. Buffy hadn't moved from her place behind Willow and wasn't planning on moving unless Riley came too close to her daughter.

"N-no." She lied, she did miss her father but she saw the fear on her mother's face and didn't want him to hurt her again.

"Don't lie to me, baby." He took one step forward and the girl went screaming in the living room.

"Granddad!" she yelled and two seconds later Giles appeared in the hall way along with Xander, Dawn and Tim.

"What in gods name are you doing here?" Giles asked, fire burning in his eyes.

"Ease up grandpa; I'm not here to hurt anyone. It's my girl's birthday and I wanted to see her." Riley said simply.

"She may be yours by blood but she's not your girl." Dawn stated crossing her arms.

"Look Riley, get your ass back in your truck and get the fuck outta here before I beat the shit outta you." Tim said; whenever he got emotional he had the tendency of talking 'Detroits'.

"You're that queer, right?" he laughed then stopped "I don't think I'm getting scared."

"Riley, she clearly doesn't wanna see you. Nobody wants to see you. Consider yourself history and just leave." Xander tried to sound friendly and calm but it was starting to piss Riley off.

"Look, I'm trying to be a nice guy here; I just wanna see my daughter for her birthday."

"She doesn't want to see you, so leave." Giles was cleaning his glasses but Riley didn't move. "Very well then." He put back his glasses and turned around. Riley started laughing.

"This is all you got?" He said but then landed on his back with a sore jaw. Giles held his fist in pain and swore under his breathe.

"I'm not so young anymore, I guess." He chuckled slightly then turned serious as Riley stood back up.

"You're going to regret that." He said and turned to Buffy who was shocked that Giles actually hit him. "And you-" he didn't finish his sentence due to Willow who grabbed his throat with an astonishing power and pitch black eyes.

"Don't even think about hurting her, don't even look at her, don't think about her." Her voice was scary low "I told you years ago I would beat you to death with a shovel if you hurt her, if I ever catch you or hear you said anything you'll wish I had a shovel to end you." She growled and sent him flying backwards onto the streets and closed the door.

"Come on, there's a little girl that wanted a great birthday party and no jerk is going to ruin that." She said casually and took her lover's hand. "He's not going to hurt you again, and he won't get Will." She placed a soft kiss on the top of the blonde's hand and smiled.

With that they all went back into the living room. Buffy sought out her daughter and managed to calm her down, even tough her own heart was beating like crazy. They didn't mention Riley for the remaining of the day and just had fun, trying to forget what happened. Buffy just hid her fear and pain, hoping no one would see through her but knew that Willow could and that they would talk about it later on.

Chapter 17

Will had begged and begged her mother for a sleepover at Davy's because last time Davy stayed a couple of days with them they had a load of fun and she kept using the fact that it was her birthday, after a while Buffy caved in because Tim and Mike joined the begging.

"Fine, go get your things." She waved her hand a little tired. She knew Riley wouldn't hurt Will but still she had the feeling something was going to happen.

"Thank you, mommy!" She hugged Buffy and pecked her on the cheek before running up the stairs to her room.

"She'll be fine; we'll have her back here safe and sound by tomorrow evening. Have a break, sleep in and enjoy your freedom for a day." Tim winked and subtly gestured to Willow who was trying to explain Giles why it was necessary to have a firewall and a virus scanner.

"Yeah, maybe I will." She said softly then rolled her eyes at Tim. "Okay, I will definitely, better?" Tim nodded and called out to Davy.

"Davy, help Will with her things, it's getting late." Davy nodded and ran up the stairs to his best friend's room.

"You know, if Davy was twenty years older…" Dawn started but stopped when Buffy cocked her eyebrow.

"What's taking them so long?" Buffy wondered out loud, normally Will was ready in two minutes now it had already been ten minutes. Willow stood up and walked to the stairs. Everyone in the room went quiet, staring confused at Willow. Then suddenly Buffy jumped up and ran up the stairs, Willow following.

Buffy swung open her daughter's door and sighed relieved when there was no one in the room but Davy and Will.

"Hi, Buffy, Will was just showing me something she drew." Davy smiled with a twinkle in his light blue eyes. His eyes always twinkled when he was telling the truth.

"Look mommy." Will gave the drawing to Buffy and waited for a reply. The drawing showed a little girl with dark brown hair, a woman with blonde hair and a woman with fiery red hair.

"It's beautiful, baby." Buffy whispered. Willow stayed outside the room, leaning against the doorjamb.

"Look, this is you with the yellow hair and that's me in the middle and that's Willow." she said pointing at each of them.

"Come on, kids. Tim and Mike are waiting for you." Willow spoke up smiling.

"Mommy, kiss." Will stood on her toes and gave her mother a kiss before giving Willow one as well. She grabbed Davy's hand and they left the room.

"Look, that's us." Buffy said finally with a grin.

"Yeah, I noticed." Willow walked in the room and put her arms around Buffy's waist. Buffy threw her arms around the redhead's neck, still holding the drawing.

"Have I told you I loved you today?" Buffy asked. Willow pretended to be thinking then shook her head.

"I didn't? Ow, I'm sorry. I love you," she kissed Willow's forehead "I love you," she placed a little kiss on the tip of her nose "I love," she slowly placed her lips on top of Willow, needing to feel her love. Willow asked for entrance which she was gladly granted and massaged Buffy's tongue with hers.

"You." Buffy said when the kiss ended.

"I love you too. Come on, there are still some guest waiting downstairs." She kissed Buffy again and then led her down the stairs.

Virginia, Xander and Giles were still there but Dawn had left because she had a date. Whenever Buffy asked who she was dating Dawn avoided the subject.

"I bet she's dating someone we know." Xander pointed out the obvious.

"Yeah, I kinda figured that already." Buffy replied smirking.

"I've seen him, Dawn's date." Virginia said coming from the kitchen with a cup of coffee and a cup of tea for Giles.

"Really? What does he look like?" Willow questioned.

"Well, he's not that tall. He is kinda cute, he's got these blonde tresses and he's seems a very nervous guy." Virginia said sipping her coffee.

"Oh dear lord." Giles proclaimed.

"What? You don't think it's…" Buffy tried to keep her laughter.

"She's dating Andrew?"

Chapter 18

The former inhabitants of Sunnydale were bringing up memories from the past, mostly about High school for a while, not thinking about their current lives where they were all grown-up and acting like an adult. Virginia had left about an hour ago, because she was getting tired.

Buffy was lying on the couch with her head on Willow's lap. Xander was either sitting in the single chair or walking around. Giles was sitting in an armchair with a cup of tea, not saying much but lovingly watching these adults he saw as his children.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Xander asked a little weirded out when he saw Giles smile.

"Can't a man smile when he wants to? I was just thinking of how much you have grown, all of you." Giles replied casually.

"Here that? I grew up." Xander grinned as he walked over to Giles to sit on the arm of the easy chair and put his arm around Giles' neck.

"Uh, Xander?" Buffy giggled.

"This is, like so gay, huh?" Xander asked and nodded along with Buffy and Willow and removed his arm.

"I think I'm heading home." Giles stood up, placing his cup on the coffee table. Buffy sat up straight and stretched her slender body. Giles walked over and kissed Buffy on the head.

"Be safe and bring little Willow by sometime this week. It's been quite a while since I've spent some quality time with my granddaughter." He smiled when Buffy nodded coyly.

"I love you," She stood up and hugged him "and thank you for coming today and…you know." She pulled back and kissed his cheek.

"I love you too, my dear." He gently stroked her cheek "Don't hesitate to come if there's a problem." Buffy nodded and moved to start the clean-up.

"Bye, Giles. Be careful on your way home and drop by or give me call if you want a good firewall and virus scanner." She said and gave him a tight hug.

"I will, and that counts for you too. If you have a problem, you know where to find me." He smiled and removed his glasses for cleaning as he faced Xander who stood ready for a big hug.

"Very well then." Giles opened his arms and Xander gave him a bear hug causing Giles to gasp for air.

"Bye G-man." Xander released him with a grin.

"Don't call me that, I'm too old for such a nickname." Giles sighed and put his glasses back.

"You're never too old to be the G-man." The young man replied. Giles just nodded tired and left the house.

"So, how 'bout a little fun?" Xander rubbed his hands in anticipation but received a backhand of the Slayer to his chest.

"Ow that hurt, you know." Then it hit him like a brick "Hey, how come Riley could hurt you?"

"He didn't. At first. Then he brought out the big guns." She simply said not looking at him. Xander wanted to inquiry further but didn't after a firm shake of the head by Willow.

It was past three in the morning when the last guest finally left after much denying of inviting him in the bedroom. Buffy threw herself on the bed, welcoming a lot of hours to sleep. She planned to just do when Willow entered the room wearing nothing but a thong.

"You're gonna kill me one of these days." Buffy said pleased about her view. She licked her lips and stood up "But what a way to go." She took Willow in her arms and kissed her passionately.

"It doesn't mean because it's your daughter's birthday you can't have a present." Willow said seductively.

"Our." Buffy said looking in her lover's eyes.

"What?" Willow asked confused.

"Our daughter. I know it's gonna sound like I'm-"

"Our daughter." Willow interrupted and kissed her Slayer again; giving her everything she needed from a lover that night over and over again.

Chapter 19

The next morning, with other words afternoon, Buffy tried to stretch but found it impossible because of a certain Wiccan lying on top of her. She stared at her redhead, wondering how it came to be that Willow of all persons slept in.

"Two pm?" she said hoarsely to herself when she looked at her clock. She grinned as memories from last night slowly seeped in. Her hands all over Willow, hearing Willow screaming her name and vice versa. Because of little Will they haven't had the chance to fully let out but last night was something else. She didn't think she was a real screamer but Willow showed her otherwise.

She felt her lover stir and smiled at the cute sounds Willow made. She gently stroked the red tresses down to the bare shoulders. Willow shivered when Buffy slowly traced down Willow's spine.

"Don't do that, I get chicken bumps when you do that." The redhead murmured half asleep.

"Hey sleepy, I think we'd better get up." Buffy spoke softly.

"Why?" Willow lifted herself up and yawned.

"Because it's two in the afternoon." Buffy said giggling at Willow's half-open eyes. The Wiccan groaned and dropped back on Buffy.

"I like it here." She muttered.

"Yeah, me too." Buffy bit her lip and innocently moved her hands up the redhead's stomach to her breasts and massaged them. Willow let out a low moan and arched in Buffy's hands.

"Don't moan like that." Buffy almost pleaded, but kept massaging Willow's breast, playing with the nipples.

"I can't help it," Willow moaned "you make me feel so-" she didn't get to finish that sentence because Buffy had flipped them over so that she was on top. Buffy grinned and ducked her head and began to suck on Willow's painfully erect nipple. With her hand she trailed down her stomach to her favorite spot and dipped in two fingers.

Going on the moans Willow made she sped up her pace until she had the redhead panting and begging for more. She let go of the nipple and crawled down without breaking her rhythm. She flicked her tongue over Willow's clit a few times then began sucking and scraping her teeth over it. She felt the pre-tremble indicating her lover was reaching her climax and dipped another finger in and sped up her pace again.

Willow rewarded her with a load scream of her name, sounding like music to her ears. Buffy slowed down when her girl was getting down from her high but didn't stop. She flicked her tongue over the highly sensitive nub again causing Willow to quiver in response.

Buffy pulled her fingers out and lapped up the wetness that was uniquely her lover and crawled up next to the redhead who was still panting and sweating. Buffy noticed a trickle of sweat between Willow's breasts and licked it up, receiving another moan.

"God, I love to hear you moan." Buffy said nuzzling in Willow's neck. Willow chuckled out of breath and turned on her side to face Buffy.

"I was kind of wondering if you would kinda like the idea of me moving in here. I know it's fast but it's kinda silly of me having a place when I'm here all the time." She suggested carefully.

"I'd very much like that, but we have to ask Will. Make sure she doesn't think it's going too fast. Is that okay?" Buffy felt a little ridiculous for having to ask her daughter's permission.

"Of course. It doesn't have to be right away, I'd just like to know that, you know…we could eventually become a real family." Willow blushed slightly. Buffy grinned happily and kissed her lover.

"What was that for? Not that I mind." Willow looked at her amused.

"For loving me and wanting to be a family with me and Will." Buffy replied.

Chapter 20

They walked in comfortable silence to the park, just holding hands. Tim and Mike had taken the kids to the playground so Buffy could pick her up there after a nice walk with her lover. First Buffy had objected in fear of Riley but the two men promised to keep an eye on her daughter at all times.

"You know, Will's summer vacation is coming up and I was kinda wondering if we'd maybe go on vacation. Visit Faith and Angel, maybe go to England with Giles and things like that." Buffy suggested.

"I'd love to, baby but I don't now if I can get off of work for three months." Willow replied.

"No, not three full months, just a few weeks. A month or a little more." The blonde quickly said.

"I'll try." Willow smiled and placed a chaste kiss on her Slayer's lips. Buffy heard a few women gasp because of her Slayer hearing and grinned.

"What are you grinning at?" Willow asked confused. Buffy wiggled her eyebrows and took a step closer to Willow; she put her arms around the redhead's neck and looked at her seductively.

"Kiss me and you'll find out." She purred softly. Willow didn't need to hear that twice and placed her lips on Buffy's soft, waiting lips. She held her lover close in her arms, loving the feeling of Buffy going through her hair. She trailed her tongue over Buffy's lower lip and when the blonde opened her mouth slightly Willow took the opportunity and softly bit the lower lip before sliding her tongue in Buffy's mouth; playing the game they loved to play.

"That's no way to behave in a public place." They both heard a woman say and chuckled breaking the kiss.

"Helen, making fun of your children because they wet their bed is never a way to behave in public." Buffy said turning to the blonde-haired woman but still holding her arms around her lover.

"Let's go, ladies." Helen huffed and speed walked in the other direction the couple was headed.

"Too young to have a seven-year old child and also a lesbian. It's a shame; the world is being corrupted by people like that. She'll want to convert her daughter to lesbianism as well, I tell you." Buffy heard Helen yapping to her friends but shook it off.

"If Will's gay, I'm straight. I can't imagine a more boy crazy girl like her." Buffy said to Willow and took her hand.

"Sticks and stones, baby." Willow kissed the top of her lover's hand. Buffy smiled as they continued their walk to the playground.

"Look, she's chasing Davy again." Buffy gestured to the kids. They walked to the bank where Tim and mike sat, watching the kids like a hawk. It reassured her to know they really were watching her.

"When Davy asks my baby out I want him neutered." She stated, startling the men.

"Hey, you're here already. We weren't expecting you for another," he looked at his watch and smiled goofily "half an hour ago. Guess time really does fly." He chuckled and scooted a little over so Buffy could sit but she shook her head.

"I think I'll stand. I'm kinda jumpy today." She smiled and watched her whirlwind notice her.

"I think she saw you." Willow stated the obvious. Five seconds later the blonde Slayer was holding a dark-haired whirlwind in her arms.

"We can't keep meeting like this, my love." Will said very serious then burst out laughing.

"Yeah, they were watching old movies last night." Mike said grinning.

"Come on, why don't you get Davy and we'll all go to Chucky Cheese. If that's okay with you two?" She asked the two men. "It's on me." She added.

"Sure, but we'll pay. You had a wild party last night." Tim winked.

"It's on me, Tim. As thanks for letting me have…. a wild party." Buffy answered, hoping the little girl standing next to her wasn't that quick of mind.

"I'll just go get Davy." The girl said grinning and ran off to get her best friend.

"She can't be that smart?" Willow questioned the three people but they didn't answer.

Chapter 21

"Buffy, Buffy!" Davy shouted and flew in the blonde's arms.

"What is it, little man?" The Slayer asked holding him in her arms.

"Will and me were racing and guess what! I won! And yesterday when we went to bed we stayed up really late and Will told me that she could beat me in running but she couldn't and when I won she said you were the fastest and that I could never beat you. But my dad can beat you, I told Will that too. My dad is the fastest." The blue-eyed boy said in one breath.

"Don't you ever breathe?" Mike asked teasingly.

"Sure, I do. Look," he breathed in and out and in again "see, I breathe." He grinned and Buffy set him back on the ground.

"Where's Will?" Willow asked looking around.

"She was talking to some man," he looked around and pointed to the swings "there she is. But the man is gone." Davy waved at little Will who didn't wave back but sat down on the swing.

"I'll go get her." Buffy sighed and took off with a little sprint to her daughter.

"Hi, mommy." Will smiled "Push me?" she asked dangling her legs.

"Maybe another time, baby. We gotta go, or don't you wanna go to Chucky Cheese with Davy and his daddies?" Buffy sat on her calves and looked at her pride and joy.

"I love Chucky Cheese," she grinned but didn't get up "but daddy said to wait here until he got back."

"Why are you waiting for your daddy?" Buffy stood up and let her senses roam but couldn't sense anyone watching her. She looked around and noticed clouds forming above her head.

"Daddy wants me to go home with him." Will said smiling and moved forward and backwards to get the swings moving. Buffy took a hold of the chains and tried to stop them but they were too heavy. She turned around to call for Willow but there wasn't anyone there. Everyone was gone; it was just her and little Will on the playground.

"Will, let's go. Davy and the others are waiting." She held out her hand but Will just stared at it then looked her in the eyes.

"No, they're not. Nobody's waiting for you. Except for daddy, he loves me and he wants us to be a family. Look there he is." She grinned and jumped of the swing running to Riley.

"Will, get back here!" Buffy tried to shout but no words came out of her mouth. She wanted to run after her but she was immobilized. She had to watch how the one thing that meant to most to her run to the one thing that she feared and hated.

Riley picked up his daughter and put her on his arm. He gave her a kiss on the cheek and approached Buffy with big steps. Every step felt like a dagger through Buffy's heart. He came to a halt about three feet from her and pulled something from behind his back. Buffy's eyes grew wide as she saw the bent pipe he had hit her with time and time again. Will was still smiling and hugging her father when Riley set her down.

"Watch this; this is going to be fun. One day you'll get to do the same, I promise." He kissed her daughter and suddenly Buffy felt a hard blow to the head and fell over. She grabbed her head in pain and moved backwards, away from her ex.

"Riley, please stop." His heavy boot landed on her face, breaking her nose. He grabbed her by the hair and pulled her close.

"Gotta love those drugs. Now you watch and enjoy the pain." He whispered before kissing her hard and throwing her on the ground next to little Will. He pulled out a gun and pointed it at Buffy.

Buffy closed her eyes and hoped it would be over soon, when she didn't hear anything she dared to open her eyes and watched in slow-motion as Riley pointed the gun at her daughter and pulled the trigger.

"Will!" Buffy shot up, sweating heavily. Willow next to her jerked up from the sudden scream and saw Buffy trembling and crying.

"Where's Will?" Buffy asked shaky and jumped out of bed to her daughter's room. She opened the door and saw her baby sleep tight with Mr. Gordo. Willow came up behind her and circled the blonde's waist.

"It was just a bad dream, sweetie." Willow said soothingly. The blonde turned in the redhead's arms and cried out.

Chapter 22

A few days later Buffy looked worn-out. She'd been having the same nightmare for a week now and didn't feel like sleeping again. Willow tried to get her to sleep but Buffy either faked it or woke up two hours later screaming and crying. No one knew what she dreamt about; they only knew that it involved little Will. Her carefree motherhood approaches were over as well, she didn't go anywhere without her daughter and if they were both at school she had the teachers keep a constant eye on her.

"Baby, don't you think you're overreacting just a little bit?" Willow asked her lover when she caught her calling in sick to pick up little Will from school.

"No, I just…Will, I'm just scared something is going to happen to her." Buffy replied.

"You can protect her without stalking her." Willow took Buffy's hand and looked in her eyes.

"You wouldn't be saying that if you saw what I saw. I can't lose her, Willow." Buffy's eyes showed unshed tears but the blonde bit them back.

"Tell me what you dreamt, baby." Willow softly stroked the side of the blonde's face.

Buffy sighed heavily and rubbed her tired eyes. She looked at Willow, knowing that Willow wouldn't say or do anything that would hurt her, but still she was afraid being stupid for believing the very vivid dream.

"I have to tell you about Riley before I can tell you my dream; otherwise it won't make much sense." Buffy rubbed her hands nervously.

"I'm here for you, baby. I won't judge you and I won't love you any less." Willow reassured her. Buffy nodded understanding and stood up from the couch.

"At first Riley wasn't violent or anything. It wasn't until he lost his job for stealing classified documents. He couldn't get a job elsewhere because they badmouthed him, saying he was a thief and a liar. So whenever I got home from work he'd get angry because I had a job." She took a deep breath and continued "When I told him I was pregnant and I wanted to keep my baby he shouted at me, saying the child wasn't his. After a few weeks I convinced him it was his but he didn't want to have anything to do with it. So I left him; after giving birth to Will he came by and said he was different, that he found a job as a truck-driver. I believed him because he looked so sincere. He wanted to raise Will together, become a real family." Buffy's eyes were tearing up as she thought of her first beating.

"It's okay if you don't wanna go any further." Willow didn't want Buffy to strain herself emotionally.

"The first time he actually hit me was when I dusted a vampire to protect him." She ignored Willow, finding it a release to finally say this to someone "He got really mad and punched me, it didn't hurt but the fact that he actually hit me did hurt. He got pissed about the fact that I'm a Slayer and stronger than him. He started slipping these drugs in my food, the ones that the Council gave me when I was eighteen. From then on he beat me nearly every day. He loved to hit me with this pipe, it was old and rusty but he loved it. Will never saw that he beat me, at least I hope she didn't. Or that she doesn't remember." Tears were now flowing over her cheeks.

"I couldn't leave; I couldn't do anything when he was done with me. Then came my rescue, he had to drive to L.A. which meant he'd be gone at least a week because, well…he loved the hookers there. He told me that frequently because I couldn't please him. It was kinda hard to please a guy you're afraid of, but that didn't once cross his mind." Buffy found herself curled up against Willow, breathing in her scent.

"Why did you take him back?" Willow asked; it was probably a bad idea but she needed to know. She suppressed the feeling of going out and kill the rat bastard because Buffy needed her now.

"Because of Will. She saw him a few years ago and she missed him so much, I couldn't refuse her of her father. I warned him that if he touched me again I'd go somewhere he'd never find me or Will. The first weeks actually seemed normal; he didn't hit me or got mad anymore. Then he wanted me to tell Dawn about us, I couldn't do that yet. He wouldn't understand that I was afraid of my sister's reaction and grabbed a pipe, an old rusty pipe." Buffy shuddered at the thought of the pipe. "I don't know how, but somehow he broke me. He didn't have to give me those drugs to fully feel the blows." Willow was trembling with anger; she could feel the magic boiling inside her.

"Willow?" Buffy sat up and looked at Willow who tried to keep her cool about it.

"I'm sorry, it's just that…God I want to hurt him so bad." Willow said trying to keep her voice down.

Buffy smiled weakly and placed a soft kiss on her lover's lips and gradually began to tell her dream. When she was finished Buffy was sobbing and Willow was holding her with silent tears running out of her eyes.

"What if it wasn't a nightmare, Will? What if it's going to happen for real?" Buffy sobbed.

"He won't get her, I promise." Willow spoke softly.

Chapter 23

It was little Will's last day of school and she was thrilled that her mother was taking her to England along with Willow. Her grandfather and Willow had told her so many things about England that she could hardly wait but their flight didn't leave until the next morning.

Just like every afternoon the last couple of weeks Willow would pick up the little girl after school and take her to her place until Buffy was home and then they would all go to Buffy and little Will's home. Today was a little different because Buffy had a big reception to congratulate the graduates so Willow had their suitcases and bags at her place, ready to leave.

"Willow, are you coming to the parent-teacher meeting because mommy can't come?" little Will asked when she got in the car.

"I don't know, sweetie. I'll call your mommy when we get to my apartment, okay?" Willow smiled and motioned for Will to put on her seatbelt.

"Are you kind of my new daddy? Because you and mommy are always together and daddy isn't here." Will probed.

"You might say that." She smiled and turned the ignition on "How was your day?" she asked as she drove off the parking lot.

Will began her story with mild interest and very short because there was something urgent she needed to ask but Willow kept asking her questions about her day. When they arrived at the redhead's apartment Will jumped out after asking the keys for the building and made her way up to the top floor.

"Will, where are you?" Willow called out in the big apartment when she reached her front door and finding no one. The dark-haired whirlwind came running up to her with a little box in her hand.

"What's that?" Willow asked as she set the girl's schoolbag on the floor after closing her door.

"Mommy said I was never ever to tell anyone, but mommy's not here and I want to know if it's really, really true." She took the redhead's hand and pulled her to the large loveseat. She crawled in and motioned for Willow to sit next to her.

"Mommy gave me this when I saw you for the first time. You were inside with Auntie Dawn and mommy gave me this and said to keep it a secret." She opened the box and picked up a golden ring with a brightly shining red stone in the middle.

"She kept it?" Willow carefully took the ring from little Will and looked at it.

"Mommy said that you have really, really powerful talents and that you protect anyone who's got this ring. She said that it was mine now because you would protect her even if she didn't have this ring." Will explained, hoping she got the words right. Buffy had given her a much bigger explanation but she couldn't remember all of it.

"Yeah, she's right. I'm supposed to know when someone who's wearing this ring is in pain, but I don't think it worked for your mommy." She had to fight the tears the threatening to come.

"I've never seen mommy wear the ring. Daddy didn't like rings, he shouted a lot about an angel that gave her a ring, that the angel was evil and that she was cheating on him." Willow placed the ring back in the box and smiled at little Will.

"Your mommy never was a cheater. Your daddy was just jealous of that angel, but that angel was a great man, he loves your mommy too much to make her ever cheat. Maybe we can visit him this summer, if that's okay with your mom." Willow gave the dark-haired girl a hug and pecked her on the cheek.

"Yeah, I'd like to meet him. Does he glow like a real angel?" Will questioned.

"No, not really but if you're lucky you might see him smile." The redhead chuckled.

"Willow? Why is mommy so afraid of daddy? Before you kept sleeping over she always cried when she went to sleep, and every time she saw a truck she stopped walking or talking. I'm seven, not three. I know daddy isn't always a nice man but I don't know why mommy is so afraid of him." There it was, the inevitable question. Willow stood up and began pacing in front of the loveseat. She didn't want to lie to the girl but she couldn't tell Will that her father was a gigantic asshole.

Chapter 24

It was past midnight when Buffy crawled in bed next to her redheaded lover. She kissed the bare shoulder softly and held her close. She knew Willow wasn't asleep but said nothing. Willow turned around and faced the blonde, placing a kiss on her favorite lips in the world.

"How was the reception?" Willow asked snuggling in her lover's arms.

"It was okay, no kids were drunk and no fights or anything." Buffy answered.

Willow snuggled close to her lover and sighed happily. Buffy was stroking her red tresses gently and pondering about what they could do this summer.

"How about we visit Angel and Faith this summer? I haven't seen them in god knows how long." Willow suggested.

"Sure, baby. Whatever you want." The blonde replied.

"Will asked me something today; I couldn't answer her so she was a little angry with me." Willow said after a few moments.

"What did she ask?" Buffy asked, breathing in the unique smell that was Willow.

"Why you're afraid of Riley." Willow replied softly.

"Oh." Buffy simply said.

"Are you going to tell her?" Willow lifted her head and looked in the blonde's eyes.

"I don't know. Can we go to sleep now? I'm really tired and tomorrow's gonna be a long day." Buffy kissed the redhead and turned around.

"Yeah, sure." Willow whispered and spooned her lover.

The next morning Will wasn't angry at all anymore, she wanted to wake the two women but was surprised when the women were already up and making breakfast together. She crawled on a stool at the kitchen counter and giggled when she saw Willow smearing butter all over her mother's face.

"I'm going to hit the shower, and then we're leaving." She walked away then turned around just in time to see Willow following "Don't even think about it, we don't wanna be late." She smirked before scurrying of to the bathroom.

"You and mommy are like little kids." Will said with a wide grin and then shook her head giggling when Willow smiled evilly and made tickling movements with her fingers. She squealed and ran away when Willow came in her direction.

"Help!" the little girl screamed out laughing when Willow caught her and tickled her mercilessly. Will fell on the floor and Willow sat on her knees next to her. After a few minutes Willow stopped and lay down next to the girl that was trying to breathe again laughing.

"Hey Will, you know I really, really like your mommy, right?" Willow said when the girl turned to her giggling.

"I know, and she really likes you too, Willow. I'm really glad you and mommy are together." Will replied as she sat up and hugged the redhead. Willow kissed the top of Will's head and sat up straight, still holding the little girl in her arms.

"Come on; let's have breakfast before your mom starts nagging about not being on time." She winked and stood up.

They ate in silence with the exception of an occasion funny face of Willow and Will giggling and did the dishes together just in time when Buffy came back.

"Ready to go?" She asked grabbing the suitcases. The two Willows nodded and grinned at each other, sharing an inside joke about Buffy's Slayer strength.

Willow made sure everything was locked and that they had everything they needed and joined the Summers' in the car. The ride to the airport was filled with Will asking a bunch of questions about England.

As they boarded the plane Will took out the little box with the ring in it and slipped in on her finger, to her surprise it changed size so that it would fit her little fingers. She took hold of Buffy's hand who immediately felt that her daughter was wearing the ring and smiled to herself.

They were seated in first class thanks to Willow which suited Buffy great since she always wanted to fly first class. After about a half an hour the plane started to move and Will smiled excitedly.

"Yeay, England." She said and watched out of the window, hoping they would get there soon. Buffy stroked her daughter's head, loving the excitement.

Chapter 25

"Can you wake Will, sweetie? We're almost there." Buffy asked her lover. They had been gone for two weeks but to them it felt like two days. Especially Will had enjoyed England, and Willow's Wiccan friends.

"Will, honey, wake up. We're almost there." Willow gently nudged the worn-out girl. The little Summers girl had fallen asleep the moment she sat in her seat. Willow chuckled as the girl grumbled and swatted towards her with her eyes closed.

"Don't wanna." She said and turned around.

"Davy's probably waiting at the airport, and Jimmy too." Buffy said knowing the boys were indeed waiting. She had called Mike before they left, asking if they could bring Jimmy and Davy to the airport. Davy was no problem, but convincing Helen to let Jimmy join them was something else, but Buffy knew that Mike could be very convincing.

"Really?" Will said grumpily and looked at her mother with sleepy eyes.

"Really, now wake up. You don't want them to see you all sleepy and cranky now would you?" Buffy grinned.

Little Will shook her head and stretched widely with a big yawn. She looked out of the window and saw there were flying over Sunnydale. She grinned when the captain said to fasten their seatbelts because they were about to land.

Once they were landed and out of the pane little Will rushed to the exit, hoping to see Davy and Jimmy. Buffy was already panicking but Willow smiled and calmed her lover down.

"The moment she's in trouble, I'll find her. She's wearing the ring I gave you, remember?" Buffy did relax visibly but still had a strange feeling inside her gut.

They retrieved their bags and headed to the exit finding the girl in the arms of Mike. Buffy smiled and set their suitcases on the floor when they reached Mike and the kids.

"Where's Tim?" Willow asked after giving Davy a hug and greeting Jimmy. She hadn't met him yet but recognized him immediately.

"Virginia needed him for a few days." He lied but the women didn't ask him why, they would ask him when the kids were out of earshot.

"Come on, let's go home. Mike, wanna come with? I think it would be more fun for the kids that way. Helen will probably be at the park, that's no fun for them if Helen suddenly decides to take Jimmy home." Buffy suggested.

"Yeah, sure. In case you're out of food, I was planning on having a picnic in the park but if you look at it that way, your place might be a better idea." He smiled, though it had a touch of sorrow in it.

The six of them exited the airport to their respective cars and drove to Buffy's home. The kids would be up in Will's room probably for the leftover of the afternoon so they could talk.

When they got in the house Will provided the kids with drinks and treats before joining her lover and Mike in the living room. She sat down next to her lover in the couch while Mike was sitting in the armchair.

"So, honestly, where's Tim?" Willow questioned.

"Tim's been arrested, and so is Xander." Mike stated trying to stay calm.

"What? Why? How? When?" Buffy exclaimed shocked.

"Yesterday, they came by the house when Davy was at the park with Jimmy." He fidgeted nervously with his wedding band and didn't look at Buffy. "Riley, he claims Tim and Xander beat him up."

"What? That's impossible! How would Xander beat him up? He's got one eye for gods' sake, he can barely see straight." Willow stood up angry and started pacing.

"And Tim was with me when Riley was supposedly beat up. Virginia already found a great lawyer, but it's not necessary because Tim's hands are perfect, not a scratch or a bruise from hitting somebody." Mike was on the verge of tears.

"He won't get away with it, Mike. They have no case, they only have Riley's word and that's not very believable since he has a record of violence and Xander and Tim don't." Willow walked up to him, giving him a hug.

"He knows that." Buffy said quietly, she saw Willow and Mike looking at her confused "Riley knows they can't convict Tim and Xander, he just wants them out of the way for a few days."

Chapter 26

Willow and Mike stared at Buffy dumbfounded, wondering how she could remain so calm while her ex had not only sent two of her best friends to jail but also had everything figured out to get back at Buffy.

"Why are you so calm?" Mike asked.

"Because I'm going to kill him if he comes near my baby." She said through gritted teeth. Willow looked bewildered at her lover and gradually walked over to her.

"Baby, you can't kill him. He's human, plus the cops are gonna know it was you and you could go to jail and never see Will again." She said slowly.

"I don't care; he's not getting his hands on my baby. He's not going to shoot her so I can suffer." Her voice was trembling as were her hands.

"He isn't going to get her, or you. We'll make him suffer but YOU can't kill him." Willow said determined. Buffy shook her head but Willow put on her resolve-face causing her lover to concede knowing she couldn't beat Willow's infamous resolve-face.

"I'm going to bed, I'm pretty tired." Buffy said and walked away not waiting for an answer.

"I should let you get some sleep as well, I'll just get the boys and we'll be off." Mike stood.

"No, you can stay, I'm not very tired." Willow smiled "Do you want coffee; I can make some, if you want?"

"Sure, I'll help." Mike smiled and followed the redhead in the kitchen. Crossing the hallway he opened the front door without a sound.

Willow was telling about England and going through the cupboards looking for the coffee seemingly not noticing Mike taking a knife from the counter. He raised the knife and was about to stab Willow when she turned around with eyes pitch black.

"You didn't think I would figure you out, did you?" she asked calmly "I'm a genius when it comes to computers, I've hacked my way through classified files ever since I was in High School. I know Xander and Tim aren't arrested, I know you and Riley beat up Xander and Tim." She telepathically lifted Mike making him drop the knife in surprise "Not only that, but I'm one of the most powerful witches in the western hemisphere, I've got psychic contacts you can't even imagine. I know everything about you, Michael Porter." She smiled and cocked her head "Or is it Michael Finn?"

Mike was squirming in the air, pretty much panicking but Willow just smiled, lifting him higher.

"Where's your nephew, Michael?" she growled.

"Upstairs, getting what's his." Mike grinned maliciously and was dropped to the floor, hitting his head against the counter, knocking him out cold.

Willow suddenly heard a noise she liked, Riley groaning in pain. She smiled as she realized that her lover was up. She walked to the staircase and was almost run over by three kids running for their lives.

"Daddy's up there and he hurt mommy." Will said crying and looked in the redhead's eyes "What's wrong with your eyes?" She asked.

"Kids, listen to me, Mike is in the kitchen, tie him up and watch him carefully. He hurt Tim and Xander." Willow said trying to get through to these kids. Davy seemed to get it though.

"He hurt my dad?" he asked stunned. Willow just nodded in reply "He's not going anywhere, Willow." He said angry and ran to the kitchen with Jimmy behind him.

"Willow, hurt him really bad. He hurt my mom; he's not my dad anymore." She simply said and went to the kitchen.

"You're so gonna hurt, Riley Finn." Willow muttered pissed and teleported herself up in Buffy's room where her lover was taking a beating from Riley, a Riley that was juiced up from serious magical strength enhancers.

"Hey asshole." Willow shouted causing him to turn around. Willow smiled and before Riley could blink Willow had him by the throat and teleported away from the house.

"Willow!" Buffy screamed but it was too late, Willow had left.

When Willow reached her destination it took Riley a while to get oriented again but Willow didn't give him a chance, she wanted him to suffer. She punched him in the face with an astonishing power, causing him to fly a few feet, almost falling in the large crater that used to be known as Sunnydale. The government still hadn't begun to rebuild but this suited Willow just fine.

"You hurt my girls." She stalked over to Riley who was trying to find somewhere to hide. She watched in amusement as he crawled away from the crater.

"Will is mine." He replied standing up.

"No, she's mine and Buffy's." She shot a lightening bolt from her hands, hitting him square in the chest. He fell on his back from the impact and groaned.

Willow walked up to him, easily picked him up and butted him hard to the head. She then dropped him on the ground for a minute while she conjured an old, rusty bent pipe. She looked at it for a moment then smacked Riley with it.

"You like hitting women, don't you?" she hit him again with the pipe "You used to fight demons and vampires," smack against his nose "do good things with your life," she grabbed him by the hair and spit in his face "now you're hurting people. Not just any people, my family." She banged his head against her knee but didn't let go of his hair.

"She took my daughter away from me." He managed to say.

Willow dropped the pipe and pulled him up so she could look him in the eyes.

"You took her life away, now it's my turn to take away yours." She smirked at the suddenly very scared look Riley gave her. She telepathically lifted him up and started chanting in Latin.

"Willow, stop, this is murder." Riley croaked out panicked.

Willow stopped chanting and stared at him.

"You wouldn't be my first." She said low and shot a fireball at him. She watched as the fireball slowly and painfully began to burn away all of his flesh. For Riley it were agonizing ten minutes before his heart stopped but to Willow it wasn't enough until she saw nothing but dust.

Epilogue

Willow stood staring at the pile of dust that used to be known as Riley. She was thinking of what to say to Buffy. Should she tell her that she killed another human being? Should she lie and hope to never be found out?

"I can't lie to her." She shook her head and sighed. She sat down on the floor and tried to connect with her inner peace, after meditating for a few minutes her eyes turned to their normal green.

She stood up and was about to teleport back when she saw something sparkling. She walked over to the pile of dust and picked up the ring before putting it in her pocket. She thought of what to say to the police, knowing they would probably be there already and conjured his truck, making it drive itself into the crater.

Back at the Summers' residence Buffy had called Dawn to check up on Xander and Tim and drive them to the hospital. After Dawn had done that she had come to the house to find police taking Mike away in handcuffs.

"Auntie Dawn!" Will ran up to her and held her tight.

"Where's your mommy? And where's Willow?" Dawn asked worried. Will motioned her to come closer.

"Willow took dad away from here, mommy said not to say anything to the police about Willow taking daddy because they would want to know where he is and then Willow might go to prison and I don't want her to go to prison because she saved mommy." She explained then took her hand.

"Jimmy and Davy are with mommy and a policeman now. They want to know what happened." Will said as they entered the living room.

"Buffy!" Dawn walked over to her sister and gave her a big hug. "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I'm fine, a few bruised ribs and a splitting headache. Where are Tim and Xander? Did you find them?" Buffy asked concerned.

"Yeah, they're fine; they were tied up at Tim's house. What happened?" The younger Summers' sister asked again.

"Mike's the uncle of Riley. He wanted revenge for leaving and taking Will with me. He attacked Willow but obviously she overpowered him because she told the kids to tie him up." She swallowed hard and continued "Riley was beating me up, telling me to experience real pain when Willow got in the room and managed to get him away from me, he fled and Willow went after him." She lied knowing that Willow would say the same "They're not back yet; I don't know where they are." Buffy started to cry in Dawn's arms when Willow entered the house.

"Willow!" Davy and Will yelled and ran to the redhead. Willow dropped herself to her knees and held the kids tight.

"Are you okay? Did he hurt you?" Will asked scared.

"No, sweetie, he didn't hurt me." Willow said, on the verge of tears.

"Miss Rosenberg? Can I ask you a couple of questions?" The policeman asked. Willow nodded and kissed the temple of Will and Davy before standing up.

"Where is Riley Finn? Miss Summers told me you went after him."

"I honestly don't know. I followed him through the yards but I lost him when he got in his truck at the other side of town at some hotel. I tried to keep up with him but I can't run as fast as a truck." She lied convincingly.

"So you ran after him?" The policeman asked. Willow nodded and he just shrugged. "Okay, thank you and when we get him you'll hear from us." He closed his booklet and told the other policemen to leave the house. Willow walked up to Buffy and took her in her arms.

"I was so scared I lost you, don't ever do that again." Buffy sobbed.

"I won't, and I promise you that he won't come back. Ever." Willow replied and kissed her lover.

"Come on, boys, I'll take you home." Dawn said to Jimmy and Davy. They nodded and said their goodbyes to Will before following Dawn to her car.

"Did you-" Buffy couldn't say it but had to know.

"I had to; I couldn't let him hurt you or Will again. Please don't hate me." Willow pleaded.

"Baby, I could never hate you. Not now, not in a few years, not ever." Buffy said looking in her lover's eyes. She looked at her daughter and gestured for her to join the hug.

"Are we going to see the angel?" Will asked after some minutes. The women chuckled at the lightness of the little girl and kissed each other.
